Guinea pigs in half price christmas sale offer =[

Ok so.. Iv done alot of work Ex in Pets shops over the years and i saw an advert in my local Pet Shop asking for part time staff over the christmas period to basically clean out the animals. Its only at the weekends and i thought great as i'm off at weekends so i could just pop in in the morning to clean them out etc. Well i got the job (well its kinda voulnteer) But the shop always have a seasonal special offer, and normally from working in so many pet shops its on stuff they couldn't sell .. like blankets etc.

Well today the manager told me he wanted me to make a sign, and i'm telling you nothing could have propared me for what he said.. he wanted me to make a sign saying this:- "Get your children a gift they'll love this christmas, Special christmas offer, GuineaPigs only £5 each!"

Well i didnt even no what to say, so i asked him why he was selling them so cheaply and said how its such a bad idea as anyone one could come alone and just buy one for the sake of it.. and the manager said he had too much "stock" and he needed to get rid of it!

So i just left .. i was soo cross i just left >_<
But i went back later this afternoon to get my point across to why i had just left and to why he couldn't do stuff like that and the sign was up in the window.. !
So i went in to find only 1 guinea pig left! .. there was 12 when i was in there this morning.. 12!

He laughed at me when he saw me and said, " you can have that one for £3" i literally felt like punching him in the face. I mean why even bother making a joke out of selling guinea pig, there flipping living creatures, you can't just treat them like that!

But i have no idea what to do, he just blatently mocked and took the **** outta me, and now i'm so annoyed with my self as i really REALLY wish id stayed =[ i could have stopped the sales somehow =[ .. but i was just soo angry at the time =[

Dont beat yourself up about it, as I'm sure he would have still sold them even if you were there.

I dont think there is anything you could have done and thats how some pet shops work unfortunalty. If they are a bad pet store then they wont really care about the animals they have and wont listen to you no matter what you say.

I only know of two pet stores by me that really know how to care for piggys and i woudnt go anywhere else for advice and for my supplies.
I too get very angry when i go into other pet stores and see loads of piggys and rabbits together with only hay. It makes me mad! But some pet shop owners just think of the money side of things and not the animals. I wish they had on the spot inspections from the RSPCA etc so they could see what these people are like!

Aaargh! You can't call animals surplus stock! It makes me mad too!

It also makes me wonder why some people chose to run pet stores. Often they don't even seem too fond of animals!

Oh lordy, don't think I could have looked him in the face. Even though I feel angry - at the pet shop/manager - just reading this, I can't imagine just how frustrated and upset you were.

For what it's worth, I strongly feel nothing you could have said or done would have stopped him going ahead with his "special offer".

Don't beat yourself up hun, that type of manager see's animals the same way as they see bags of feed, stock that has a sell by date, as animal lovers its disgusting to us, but to someone like him it's a commodity that has to be moved by hook or by crook.
