one of my Poppet's nails has grown in a strange way (curved upwards) it has grown a little bit into her paw (it wasn't very long so I was able to remove). One of her little digits is now swollen (the wound can't be any older than two weeks as that's when I last cut her nails - she was sqwirmish so I didn't cut that one, but at the time it looked fine to me). It is more an indent and you can see it's just become a wound. But there was a bit of dry stool on the nail, so I think that's what's caused the swelling (bacteria infection). Is a betadine treatment twice a day a good treatment? The digit isn't too swollen, maybe 1/4 it's usual size. Thank you!

Also I just thought of colloidal silver in case of internal infection spread. I think this will be fine - can't find how to delete post so no need to reply. :)

I would take your guinea pig to the vet if I were you. It is best not to treat on spec as you could make the problem worse for your piggy. A vet visit is always best as guinea pigs are delicate creatures and you have to be very careful with them. I certainly WOULD NOT be using colloidal silver. If in doubt see a vet.

Colloidal silver was recvomended to me by an owner of The Australian Cavy Society. I've been using it successfully on my pigs for years, as did the rescuer who recommended it to me. I did extensive research before trying it. My family use it too :)

Please have your piggy vet checked. We do not recommend treating potential bumble foot infection on spec. it can kill.
