Hi all :)
I finally got my Guinea pigs! Two males, approx 9 weeks old, they're called Guido and Luigi. They're named after two characters in the Cars film. Blame my 2.5 year old son!

Anyway, I got them on Sunday and have not once seen them drink any water. The bottle doesn't seem to be going down either, they're eating and pooing PLENTY. Should I be concerned? I've checked that water comes out, and have been changing the water twice a day.

Thanks,

Kim

Hi there - this seems to be a common thing with new baby pigs. If you are worried put a very shallow dish with some water in (like a clean jar lid) and change it frequently as it will get dirty quickly. They may not have figured out the bottle yet or they may be getting moisture from veggies if you feed them.

I'm sure they will get used to it in time.

Hi Kim,

Welcome and congrats on the new boys, i wouldn't be too worried, so long as they are eating plenty of fresh veg (you could always leave it excessively wet after washing it) It can take a while for them to learn where the water bottle is and what it does in new surroundings x

Thats a good idea with the lid, I'll try that and the excess wet veg. I just don't want them getting poorly/dehydrated. Thank you :) x
