My guinea pigs seem to be eating very little lately, I barely see progression in their hay, and same with their feed.
I had to stop feeding veggies for a couple of days because their pee smelled very strange and appereantly it had to do with the veggies. I got adviced to stop for some days and after that make sure i fed them the actual very good veggies (e.x. Bell pepper) that have the right amount of Vitamin C, something with to do with calcium ?
I know i'm a bitty iffy around the edges, they didn't have actually blather stones or anything (i know that also makes you have to give less calcium) that i know for sure but i'm not sure about what exactly happened. The talk they gave went a bit over my head I have to be honest, and it's been a couple of days since the talk so that doesn't help
Greetings!

Please weigh them daily if they're showing signs of eating less, weigh at a similar time of day for better results :)

If they're losing quite a bit (say 30/40+ grams a day) then that's of concern and you should take them both to the vets.

Odd smelling urine could be a sign of urine infection, are they squeaking when they pee? And have they got a smelly/wet bottom? If so you'll need to see a vet for that as well.

What do you normally feed? :)

Also if you could add your location to your profile it would help a lot!

Hopefully it's nothing and they're fine :)

Hi!
No they are deffo not squeaking when they pee! I got peed over earlier and i didn't realize until i put them back (they're both very cuddly piggies and rather lazy than tired.
They're not losing weight either
I'm from belgium btw :P

Haha oh dear, bath time for you! :))

If they're not losing weight then they must be eating :) I would still recommend weighing them daily for a week just to make sure, just in case! :)

That's what i thought too but i still feel like less food goes away daily I'm really scratching my head over it, or maybe i'm just a paranoid piggy mommy hihi.
I'll keep weighing them daily to keep an eye on it.
Any tips on calcium low veggies that they can have loads ?

Well I wouldn't say loads, veg is only 15% of their diet so they shouldn't have too much in any case. I believe there are some good threads on here for low calcium diets but if you're not having bladder problems then a normal, varied diet would be beneficial. Just not too much of one thing, I give my girls a little bit of a lot of different types of veg. Tonight for example they've had tomato, celery (not great for calcium levels but okay in small, occasional amounts), little gem lettuce, bit of parsley and bell pepper. Think it's roughly a cup of veg per day per pig, but I fill up a bowl for my 4 lol.

The thing is with the whole cup thing i get confused, and some sites are so different.
I like giving bell pepper cause high in vit C but not evereyday i guess

My pigs pretty much have bell pepper every day, it's not a problem. Just gotta make sure they have a range of different veg and not just one thing.

It might help you to have a look at the threads in the Food section on here :)
