Pets - wild at heart. Guinea Pigs:

Here's the part about domesticated piggies! Finally managed to get it uploaded!

Overall, I think the programme is very informative and gives a good insight into why our pets do the things they do but agree with everyone that having an unneutered boar with that sow was unnecessary and I actually found it quite upsetting to watch :(

I just saw it and feel so sad she has been mated again. Poor sweet sow. It is very dangerous.

I might have missed something but the one I was watching was showing a group in Peru when it was mentioned they were food. However it was mentioned as "even though some of them will end up as food" and proceeded about how important they are as pets to Peruvians and thought to have mystical healing powers.

It was a same they showed breeding but I think it will be the shock factor that sticks in people's minds. Yes the narrator could say "females can get pregnant straight away" but uninformed people will still assume this as hours or days not literally straight after birth.

Personally I felt it was a well managed programme and very informative and interesting regardless of whether anyone has prior knowledge or not. If we start complaining about all the little bits that we aren't happy with but are going to happen regardless of whether it's on TV we run the risk of even basic information not being shown and maybe helping some of those people who have been shops, like pets at home, from preventing numerous pregnancies rather than just the one they accidentally ended up with.

we watched this during the boys floor time.
Rex went for it, running up and down talking to the guineas on the tv. got really happy and excited. then wheeked like mental so loud when the babies were wheeking.
