i couldnt see the first link.. because they got rid of it... what was it?
I was considering buyingone of those balls but then realised fatty wilson would more than likley hurt himself lol

Giant Exercise Balls are big health hazards for a guinea pig. They can cause spinal injuries and foot and ankle injuries leading to very difficult, life threatening problems. DO NOT USE these products. for goodness sake just throw it in the bin!

LARGE EXERCISE BALL FOR RATS

I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THIS BALL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR GUINEA PIGS

hehe! my good deed for pig-kind 0:)

i dont like to see any rodent go in those balls but i've had rats and think they could probably cope with it, mine used to have a huge wheel to run on even though they came out the cage everynight they just have so much energy.

just checked my email and was surprised to find a response from that lady:

just to let you know i have revised the listing. i bought this ball in good faith from my local pet store where i was advised that it was suitable for guinea pigs. i would never want anyone to hurt their guinea pig for the sake of £3 and didnt know of the risks. i will be re-visiting the pet store to inform them of this mistake and will be advising them to stop selling them as suitable for guinea pigs.

Have sent them a message explaining they shouldn't live together with a brief story of my friends rabbit who stamped 2 piggies to death & have asked them to separate them.

Really ? Pet shops are f*king crap. I've been reading around the web a little after receiving your note, and now I'm glad I did. Their new living quarters is a 'work in progress'; it was supposed to have some steps leading up to the (currently unused) upper level, which was just going to be for food & a sheltered sleeping area. Now I'm going to extend the floor space of the upper level, *not* link the two, and add a narrow intermediate floor for the rabbit to play with and sleep under. I'll use the top floor purely for the guinea, and for companionship, we'll buy another.

Whenever we're in the flat, we allow the two of them to roam in & out of the cage anyway, so supervised communal playtime should continue to be ok.

Excellent! I always think that a nicely worded email with a few pointers in canwork wonders. A lot of time people are just ignorant and really appreciate some good advice. I've had some really nice replies from people I've contacted so I think its always worth having a try :)
