Guinea pigs weight to how old they are

Hello I'm new here just wanted to know how can you tell the age of 3 female guinea pigs by the weight of them witch are: 743grams,723grams and 818grams please help me i have brought them last year i believe but I don't know the exact price or day/month we brought them but please help me figure out how they are
 
Don't think there's any reliable way to match age to weight. My sows are 850g + at 8 months but each guinea pig is different. Weight is mainly checked for sudden weight loss, which is a sign of sickness.

Hi and welcome

You cannot guess the age from the weight; I am very sorry. Piggies are generally around 8-10 weeks when being sold but even litter siblings can have very different weights and those weight differences get rather larger than smaller throughout life.

For one year olds, they are at the lower end of the adult weight range but that doesn't say anything about life expectancy as long as they are a good weight for their individual size and you have them on a good hay based diet.

Ok thank you these are my 3 female guinea pigs I don't know how old they are we had them for almost close to year now

Why do you feel that your piggies are not doing well? Did you notice any symptoms?
As was written above, you can't tell the age from how heavy they are, but if you are worried, a vet check would be best. Your vet should have suitable experience with guinea pigs though.

It would be a very good idea to monitor the weight of your piggies from now on by weighing them weekly. So you will get a baseline that you can go from.

No there fine they are healthy I'm just trying to figure out how old they are so I can keep track of thir ages or how big they can get

Just keep track of their weekly weight checks so you can be sure they are eating enough. Unfortunately we can’t know how old they are as weight is not a defining factor in age
 
When I adopted Elizabeth in 2019, her age was unknown apart from being a young sow. She weighed 1068g but continued to gain weight for another 8 months or so after I adopted her until she reached 1250-1300g I therefore estimated her to be around 6 months to a year old when I adopted her so I now estimate her to be around 3-31/2 years old.

When I adopted Esme at 8 months old, she weighed 860g. She’s now 17 months old and has settled at around 1250g Ella is 2 years and 8 months old and weighs around 1180-1220g where as my neutered boar Edward is 6 years old. He weighs around 900-950g

It really is impossible to tell the age of a guinea pig by weight alone as it varies so much but you can do an estimate. If yours are still growing which you will only know by weighing them weekly, you can safely say they’re probably below 12-15 months old as guinea pigs stop growing around that age. If they have reached their adult weights, you can estimate that they’re above that age

Oh ok thats what I usually do i weigh them and then I look online to estimate there age or i can estimate there when we got them witch was around 8-10 weeks old because some pet stores will not sell guinea pigs unless they are around 8-10 weeks old so there for we had them close to a year now...their weighs are 743g 723g and 818g so how do I estimate there age

As we have said, you cannot estimate their age from their weight.
All you can do is add 8-10 weeks to the length of time you have had them to give you a very rough idea of how old they might be - so they may be around 1 year and 2-3 months old at a very rough guess.
They will be fully grown at that age so they are at the smaller end for an adult piggy but as long as they gain weight and are a good heft then that’s good!

Many of the pigs I've had, I've had no idea how old they really were, only guesstimates.
I did get a pair from a rescue once, where they estimated them at 'a year to 18 months, due to the size of their testicles' :D which opened up a whole world of possibilities in animal ageing :))

Fwiw my two pigs are tiny. At most they weighed about 900g. They have both lost a little weight over time, Timmy was smaller and dipped to about 780 before he died. Jenny is 850g. We got them at 1-1.5 years old and they weighed about 700g. They turned 7 this year. So no, weight isn’t helpful.

Older pigs have curlier nails than youngsters but once they reach adulthood there isn’t much between them.

That was my guess for their age range but its ok eventually ill take them in to dabble check if there healthy etc but thanks
