Guinea Pigs Who Won’t Bond

Hi folks, needing some help. So one of our guinea pigs died just before the new year. Duncan took it badly and we decided he needed a new pal - thing is he hates him! We’ve had flash for about 2 weeks now and we’re having to keep them in separate cages. We’ve tried to ease them into it and cuddle them together, have them out on the floor etc but but they always end up fighting (really aggressively). Currently don’t know what to do to make them bond I read that washing them together and putting them in a clean cage can often help but not sure if that’s true?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I’m afraid bathing them won’t help. If they’ve decided they don’t like each other to the point they are fighting then nothing will make them get along. Just like us humans not all piggies will get on with each other.

They could maybe live alongside each other.

My 2 cheeky boars are quite happy now living through the bars from each other. They seem happier that way. Lol.

It's hard when we try to do our best for the piggies but they have other plans.
