Not sure if this is the right section for this. I was scrolling through Craigslist and seen this ad. I really want to let this person know what I think on keeping these piggies in a small tub.

Let’s just hope that they go to a home where there is a more knowledgeable owner!, I’ve seen similar on a site in the Uk so I no longer look at it as we just can’t rehome every single piggy we are concerned about unfortunately

:agr:
I avoid all these sites for the same reason - I wish I could save them all :(

That's appalling, thank god he is rehoming them. I hope they go to a home that will give them a happy and healthy life.

What an appallingly small cage!(if you can even call it that!) It is too small for even a hamster let alone 2 piggies. I hope they go to a good home with somebody who gives them lots of love and space.

I've found things like this before on a UK site. Pigs were kept in a ridiculously small cage with a wheel! I messaged the owner, more to try and make sure that a buyer didn't continue this practise because they thought it was okey. I was thanked with a very rude reply and told to keep my nose out of other people's business :(

From the first picture I wondered if they had just put them in the tub to be able to get a good picture of them both together....but then it became evident that it’s actually their home. I am shocked and hopefully the new owner will house them in something more suitable.

wouldnt expect them to be polite! After all they dont care about the animals!

I HATE seeing things like that in ads.. I sent a giant email to a lady looking for a guinea pig to use as a class pet for a pre-school (4 year old) classroom, where "the kids will all hold her every day" and she posted a picture of a similarly sized cage as if it was so wonderful. I tried to very politely, and in depth, explain that being alone in a tiny tub to be handled constantly by small children would be hell on earth, if not a death sentence, for a guinea pig. I linked her to the Humane Society's explanation of kids and guinea pigs and attached some info about cage size and companionship, but she never responded.

Not surprised at all no response. Unfortunately some people don't care about animals and just see them as toys. If the person responsible them is not suffering they think the animal isn't. They feed it and water it and think that is enough.

(Prepare for a rant :D ) I'm sick of seeing people mistreating piggies over Craigslist -_- It's horrible to see that they're assuming that a small animal can live in a small cage, especially guinea pigs. When will people realize that they aren't the "easy pets"? I faced a similar situation and I emailed them right away. They had no hay, a dirty cage, and at least 20 animals in a kiddie pool. I did my best to kindly redirect them to the local guinea pig rescue or humane society. To no avail, they defensively told me that it wasn't my business to tell them what to do with their pets and that they were going to rehome them one by one. Yikes. I'm glad that I'm not the only one trying to help the poor creatures and save them to our greatest extent. Some people will never understand that even the smallest cavy lives are worth just as much as any other animal.
