Hiya I'm min, i bought my 2 kids a couple of male pigs as they wanted pets so i bought them from pets at home.

They were 6 weeks old on 22 december 2013 they lived (indoors) in a cage in kitchen for about a year and a half. Ran around the living room / kitchen for a few hours a day with heating during the evenings. We built a new pen for them outside 2 weeks ago as the weather was warm, plenty of hay, lots of attention...and dried food plus vegetables/tomatoes cucumber carrots sweet peppers and grass.........they stopped drinking water as they grew older. Not sure if thats an issue

Left them outside for the first time for 2 days. The more spritely of the two (pumpkin) was lifeless on day 3. We suspect no cats or birds attacked them because he was unharmed and sleeping comfortably in his home when we found him dead and cold. We fed him at eight in the morning with a carrot. He snatched it like normal. There was no water in the pen but they they had fresh dew grass cucumber and tomatoes. We went outside to feed them tomatoes around 11:30 and pumpkin wasnt moving. And was cold. Under his little wood house.

Any ideas?

Aw, very sorry to hear you lost one of your piggies. Such a shock when they go suddenly like that. Hope your children are ok. Have a read through the advice on looking after a bereaved guinea pig. Could well have been a heart issue or a stroke, especially if his companion has shown no sign of illness. Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy browsing the various sections.

Ohhhh how sad! So sorry!

I'm really sorry for your loss! If it was just out of the blue like that and there were no obvious outside factors (i.e. major temperature swings, eating anything strange in the outdoor environment), I would wonder if it wasn't a heart issue or something similar. Unfortunately these problems can be without symptoms until a pig passes away suddenly. A friend of mine lost a young pig in similar circumstances not long ago. It must have been a terrible shock! Again, I'm so sorry. At least it sounds peaceful, if he simply passed in his sleep in his little house... not that that fact makes it any easier, of course. ((HUGS)) to you.
