I have the radio on, with a random mix of music playing while I work. I've been in the office for a while and other than the odd squeak and shuffle, the guinea pigs have been very quiet. Then a particular song came on and the two of them went crazy, squeaking like mad! A little piggy duet. Then when the song finished, the quietened down (and started again, because I decided to feed them after that, which always get them going!)

Just a bit strange! It's like they were genuinely squeaking along to the song. Cute though. ^_^

Have you ever witnessed your piggies sing? Do they have a particular song or genre that they enjoy?

yes l have heard it , but it is quite rare , a lot of keepers can go there hole lives without hearing it, there are 3 basic varations , from a monatone wheek wheek, to a beutifull melodous song

why do they do it , thete are many theries , anger happinass loss ect ect , personaly l beleve the do it simply because they can

congratulations on hereing this wondefull song

sometimes, usually if ive been away and ive come back, archie sings to me, i mean just like a little tune a person would sing, not like the wheeking or anything. I think guinea pigs sing when they are extremely happy.

2 of my females chirp occasionally! the first time I heard it I honestly thought a bird had got into the room. The sound was lovely, high pitched singing chirp, went on for a little while, when I tracked down the sound it was Cookie singing away all content, beautiful:) Then Honey did the same a little while ago, singing away, I was quiet going into the room and stood and listened, the other piggies were relaxing listening and she had her head high singing like a bird. Didn't know they did this until I looked it up! :)

Hi , l bet the neabours thought you have a canery

So cute! I've heard various piggies 'chirp' over the years, but never predictably and never seemed to be connected to anything in particular going on in the environment. Hadley does wheek every time I move my chair, though. I work from home and my home office is in the same room as the pigs and every time I move around she is hopeful that I am getting up to get her a treat! LOL!

One of my pet hedgehogs used to squeak when our alarm clock when off every morning- it was a shrill beeping sound and was similar to the noise that male hedgehogs make to impress the ladies, so I suspect he though there was a competing male that he had to outsing every morning!

Ah that's cool. One of my boys from years ago, Pixie (RIP) used to sing on occasion. I remember myself and my husband being a little panicked the first time he did it. None of my others ever did. It's a lovely sound.

One of my pigs "sang" twice, and we thought a bird had broken into the kitchen, it was such a weird noise! She's never done it since though... We do ask her to sing for us though :p she chooses to ignore us.

They've never squeaked along to music though, that's hilarious. Random noises do set them off for no apparent reason though. Odd fur balls!
