I thought it would be cool to post a little about each of my piggies. Guineapigs all have such different and fun personalities. I would love other people to share about there piggies as well.

I will start with Lumen(black and white) and Phoebe(brown and black). Lumen and Phoebe are 10 months old. Unfortunately, they came from a pet store. We got them before we knew about the importance and availability of adoption. I feel like it’s still a good thing we got them as they were very small and came with upper respiratory infections. The vet predicts they were at the pet store before they were ready to leave there mom. Phoebe was especially small and had badly torn up ears. They took a long time to recover but are both happy healthy piggies today.

Lumen is a bit of a princess. She hates being picked up unless you hold her in her fluffy bed (pictured). She has no problem communicating what she does and doesn’t like. If it were up to her she would sit on her fluffy pillow while the humans feed her snacks all day. Her favorite vegetable is lettuce. She will snuggle the humans if she has her pillow. Lumens loves running really fast during floor time and playing with her treat ball.

Phoebe is a pretty relaxed pig. She doesn’t mind being picked up and likes to lick the humans hands. Despite being sickly and underweight as a pup she is now the biggest of all 4 piggies. Her favorite vegetable is lettuce. She likes floor time but loves lounging more. She will often lay down in the middle of the floor while Lumen runs around her.

The boys, Dexter and Ezra.

We adopted Dexter (black and white) and Ezra(brown and white) in August 2017. They are currently about 7 months old. They came from a family who no longer wanted them. They were pets to two little girls who liked them for awhile but then they got a kitten. Subsequently, they liked the kitten better and no longer payed attention to the guineapigs. The dad wanted them to go to a better home. They were reasonably cared for before at there old home but were in a fairly small cage. The food they had wasn’t great and they were often handled by small children which I think was pretty traumatic for them. They now have a large cage and are very spoiled. They are still adjusting but doing well.

Dexter is the bigger of the boys but very passive and not dominant as of now (still teenagers). Ezra’s macho behavior doesn’t seem to bother him. He’s very dramatic and wheeks the loudest of all the pigs. He doesn’t like being picked up unless snacks are involved. He likes to lick the humans noses. His favorite vegetable is Fennel but he’s not picky. His favorite activity is yelling for snacks.

Ezra is small but has a big personality. He currently likes rumble strutting everywhere he goes even when Dexter isn’t near him. He’s the more dominant pig as of now and I feel that how it’s going to stay as Dexter doesn’t really care what Ezra does. Ezra doesn’t mind being picked up but is constantly on the move when the humans hold him. He’s not into snuggles and only wants to explore. His favorite vegetable is fennel. His favorite activity is letting everyone know how manly he is and sleeping.

Aww they're all so gorgeous! After a bad start they've come into their own. Happy little sweeties.

I've got three - Groucho, Chicco and Little Dude. They came from the SSPCA in Lanarkshire. They had come from someone who was 'always handing in babies', and I suspect a breeder as it was all boys. There were 7 babies when I went to get them, and I chose my three because I had already named Groucho from his pictures on line, because he had these amazing eyebrows. Chicco was the first one I caught and I couldn't resist Little Dude, although he was supposed to be called Harpo, but he was such a Little Dude it stuck. Chicco and Groucho are brothers from the same litter. I think Little Dude is either a cousin or half brother as they all have identical colours in different patterns, and are slightly longer haired than the usual short haired breeds - especially Groucho, whose fur is a bit longer than the other two.

Groucho is a big softie. Despite being the biggest, he's definitely bottom piggy. He's the easiest to catch, and always pees on the couch...I think he holds it in until he gets on the couch. He's the greediest too, and wolfs down his food, and munches through the nuggets much quicker than the other two when I hand feed them. He's also the loudest and most inclined to start the wheeking chorus.

Chicco thinks he's boss. He rumblestruts constantly at the other two and chases Groucho every chance he gets. He likes his chin-offs too. He's now the smallest of the three though, and is the most gentle. Even if his teeth catch my fingers, it's always really gentle. Despite his domineering ways, he always waits behind the other two for his treats. I've never quite understood this, as he's definitely not scared.

I think Little Dude probably IS the boss. He completely ignores Chicco's strutting and chinning and holds his ground. He is getting bigger and I think may well end up the biggest as he is a month younger than the other two. He's the personality of the group. Always first up to the bars for treats, shoving the others out the way, not afraid to give me a wee gentle nip if he's fed up. He will NOT sit still on my lap, ever.

From left to right - Little Dude, Chicco and Groucho. Looking forward to everyone else's stories.

Thanks @Sara Trekas I do like them matching, but I soo want a long haired piggies too. When I finally get rid of the double bed in their room I intend to get some more - hopefully long haired, although that's not really what it's about.

We used to have a long haired pig named Chester. He passed away a few years ago. We called him our grumpy old man. He was grey and acted like a grumpy old man even when he was young lol
