Guinea-Tia-Flossie

Just 1 month after losing Welsh, today i found myself facing it all over again. Ruby has been a very poorly bunny her whole life. With many ear problems, eye infections, tooth problems, chest infections and mites. After 4 years of problems i guess today she felt she'd had enough :'( I will miss her dearly, but it's not me i'm worried about. Guinea has been her companion since they were both babies and have been unseperable ever since! He adores her and i know he will never be the same guinea pig again. He hasn't come out of the box since she died :(

I know you all dissaprove of rabbits and guinea pigs together, but please don't judge me :'( :'( I'm gutted, and feel a great loss for me and for Guinea :'(

I'm so sorry about your loss :'( I hope you and Guinea are feeling better soon. Don't worry, no one will judge you.

RIP Ruby xx :-* :smitten:

I won't judge you. But you do know a rabbit could easily kill a guinea pig?

And I feel so sorry for you hun, the rabbit was gorgeous!

Is your guinea pig male or female? And how old is s/he?

Because I rabbit could jump and kick the guinea pig by accident, and then the guinea pig can die from the hit.

un-neauterd male

hey hun I'm not gonna judge you,if they got on together thats just fine ;)
I'm so sorry you lost her and it sucks,I wish I could help
what are you gonna do with the lil chap now?
Give him a kiss from me and Sars?

Well, do you think you could neuter him and get him a girl around 3 - 4 years old for him? He might be lonely, and I know it won't be the same as having Ruby for him, but at least he'll have another girl friend and won't be lonely.

Aw that's really sad. so sorry for you.
I was in exactly the same position as you when my Fudgey(piggie) lost his beloved Flopsy (rabbit). They were together 4 years and I was gutted not only for myself but for Fudgey also.

RIP Ruby

I am so sorry for your lost and you should not be judged one bit at all. They look like they loved each other very much. Just keep an eye on Guinea and make sure he doesn't lose any weight or becomes even more depressed then what he is now. If he does I would take him to the vets, how old is he? :'(

Thats so sad. :'( When Badger died Schmichael the rabbit really missed him. It was heartbreaking to watch him searching around the room for him. Although they didn't live together they were very close and Schmichael would always sit by Badger's cage. When Badger had floor time he would run around with Schmichael and they definitely had a very close bond.

I really hope Guinea will be ok. Those are such lovely pics of them together. :)

Rest in Peace Ruby! :'(

Off topic: I can't resist but say Guinea is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous.

Ruby too, I love her eyes, where they pink?

Guinea is 4 years old, we looked into getting him neutered but the vets told me it was too risky at his age....?

The friendship between these two was amazing, Ruby was the most gentle rabbit on this earth, i feel she wanted to be a guinea pig and not a rabbit. With all her problems she was very docile and even let guinea stand on her head, something which i didn't approve of, but she didn't mind ::)

I thought because of his age the vet would be concerned about neutering him. You could always try and pair him up with a couple of baby male guinea pigs, but he may not take to them. :(

aww I'm so sorry for your loss :'( I don't think anyone will disapprove so don't worry, at the end of the day you know your own pets and their temperaments - I got a guineapig and bunny years ago and have been unable to separate them - when I tried both stopped eating and I'd rather have two healthy pets than two miserable ill ones, so years on they still live together, happy as ever :)

/hugs to you and Guinea x

I have no idea Ali, he's been moved inside for now. Maybe i'll find the right friend for him one day...then again maybe i wont. it's so difficult to know what to do!

You have two options really, like I have said on the other page you could get him a couple of young males (a couple as when Guinea passes on you will be in the same position you are in now) or leave him how he is. It's up to you what you think is best. Neutering at his age isn't an option. :)

So sorry to hear of the sad loss of your Ruby. Maybe that absolutly gorgeous boy :smitten: could be paired with a baby boar. After a few weeks. Take care hun thinking of you

it's really late and i can't sleep because i feel like a failure. :'( :'( I've let guinea down and have lost 2 bunnies in 1 month...what am i doing wrong :'( The fact that Ruby has gone has just hit me :(

Oh honey don't beat yourself up over their passings, I am sure you haven't done anything wrong. What is done is done. Allow yourself some time to grieve. :-*
