hi

as iv said in a previous post I'm travelling back to wales for christmas so this means a 5 1/2 hour train journey. I'm taking my 3 boars with me but i feel really uneasy sticking them all in a large travel cage - because 2 of them are getting into swing of hormonal kicks and 1 keeps chasing the other around like a mad sometimes afew attempted nips (no blood drawn but loads squeals from other pig)
it is a really long journey and 3 in a cage where they cant run is worrying me. am i better off getting 2 travel cages or will they settle in 1?

I would say two cages if it makes you feel more at ease, plus it gives you an option to separate if need be. They can always see eachother too if you have the carriers with the grid front?

My two bos find it more comforting to be on the floor of the train or car than put on seats in their carrier or cage. Something about the vibration keeps them calm. if I keep them on the seats they make noise all the time. Mine can do 5-6 hours from Wolves to Scotland without much trouble so it should be fine.

are your boys going through their hormonal stage? what sort of carrier do you use?

Mine are nearly 5 now and getting a bit more sedate but have done the journey a number of times including when I got them at 11 months old from a rescue near my grandparents in Scotland. They have a holiday cottage at my parents!

I just have a cat carrier style thing which has a lid on the top that opens as well so I never bother using the one on the front. i just a blanket, some food and a couple of their favourite fleecy things to give them plenty of scope to hide from each other if they want but usually they just sit in a bundle under one corner of the blanket and pop out for food every so often.

Never had any problems but if they do start making a racket or getting a bit agitated I just talk or whistle to them and they calm down or if you are on a train you can open the topand keep a hand in the carrier so they know you are there.

Good luck!
