My 4ish year old sow Crunchie has a history of ovarian cysts, diseased uterus, bloat, recurring blood in urine and teardropped poos. She was treated with hormone injections then ended up being speyed due to diseased uterus, which we thought was the cause of the bloat/slow guts/teardropped poos. They found inflammed bowel on ultrasound which was inconclusive in ultrasound apparantly. She was spayed 17 days ago and has recovered well.. BUT!.. Her poos have become more abnormal the past few days and is STILL relying on metacloprimide and zantac even now.. When shes a few hours before her next dose, theres no droppings passed. Although gas build up has ceased since i took her off any cabbage/kale/brocolli/cauliflower/pak choi, or could be because shes still on metaclop as this helped it before. Her poos are now varying between softish and VERY long, normal sized with mucous, or teardropped at their best. She never has normal droppings anymore. She has red/orange discharge on her vulva (assuming blood) so have started her on septrin and probiotics until i can see specialist vet on wednesday- I'm guessing its from bladder as she no longer has a uterus, but could somone confirm if she could still pass stuff from the closed off section before her uterus if shes not fully healed inside yet?

I'm going to request a faecal culture and possibly another ultrasound or xray as I'm worried this becomes a huge problem if not diagnosed. This has been going on for months all in.

Poos vary between this:

Last image is the most normal they get.

This is beyond my expertise am afraid. I would see what the specialist vet thinks, but in the meantime I will tag @Abi_nurse in case she can help.

Looks like there may be some imbalance in the guts here. How many pellets is she doing in a day? If she's eating and doing adequate amounts of pellets, what does she do off the medication? It may be the guts are going too quick and you need to stop the metoclopramide and Zantac.

Ultrasounds are difficult in guinea pigs due to the amount of gas in the intestines so I'm not surprised at it being inconclusive.

I would suggest trying her with some probiotics as the second photo shows a little bit of mucous. This may help, have these made any difference?

Until you see the specialist though I really wouldn't like to tell you what to do.

As for the discharge, it's probably bladder yes. Try to get a sample of this so it can be sent off for culture of what it is, infection from the last stump of uterus or bladder infection?

Feacal testing may be useful but the above may sort it out.

Sorry I'm not much more help. Good luck with the specialist and let us know how you get on.

Thank you very much for your help. I halved her dose of metacloprimide and her output significantly reduced. Her output is normal for a couple hours after metaclop, but then tapers off and normally doesnt produce anything in the last hour before her next dose. Shes on zantac purely as shes still on metacalm and i wanted to protect her stomach. This has being goin on flr months, long before any metacalm. She was on probiotics (fibreplex) for a month before her spay and there was no change. The specialist also took a sample of urine straight from crunchies bladder at time
Of ultrasound when finding the diseased uterus, and sample was clear (no blood) but wasnt sent away for culture. Thanks again x

Forgot the quote yet again!

That's very unusual as metoclopramide isn't very good at working on the hind gut that much, more the Zantac. So perhaps there is some gastric stasis as metoclopramide is better for the stomach.

Sorry, I can't add much more.
