Some of you might have read my post yesterday bout how my poor piggy Huey had started to walk drunk and had an inflamed foot.

He had been put on antibiotics and anti inflammatories by the vet on monday and had been eating and drinking as usual.

Unfortunately he decided to stop eating yesterday evening and wasn't passing any stools. I force fed him oats and syringed water to him. He dropped 100g of weight in just over 24 hours and I rushed him to the emergency vet this afternoon.

They reckon it was his kidneys in the end. He was so alert and wanted tickles on his nose all of the time, even when it was time to say goodbye. He kept nuzzling into me and I know he had complete trust in me.

The vets werent my usual ones, they were the out of hours team and they put him into a box with cotton wool coated in a gas to make him sleepy. Even then he was fighting it, and he was so confused to be in there, he wanted so badly to get out.

Then they took him out and I held him while he went in my arms. I was so angry that they put him in that box to make him sleepy, he wanted me and I feel like I should have rescued him, but I didnt have a choice....it was his time to go.

So thank you for all of the comments and suggestions on my other thread which helped me make the tough decision to let my little man sleep in peace

I am so sorry. Try not to think of how he was pts, but just that he is now free from pain and in a much better place. I dont know the proceedure for piggies, only for dogs, but I am sorry it wasnt your usual vet. Hugs to you.
Popcorn free little Huey, you will never be forgotten. x

So sorry, it is hard to say goodbye. I had to have Mabel rabbit pts earlier this year very sad but part of the responsibility of having furry friends x

So sorry you had make the terrible decision to say goodbye to Huey, I was faced with the exact same situation back in Feb with my boar Archie.
You have to remember that he had a lovely life why he was with you, and that although it may not have been how you wanted it to end, he is suffering no more and sleeping piecefully now.

Really sorry for your loss

RIP Huey
x x
