We have 6 guinea pigs.
Firstly we got 2 girls last August Honey and Primrose. Then 2 boars Alfie and Oscar in October they were all 6 weeks old when we got them.
In January along came Blossom and Poppy who were about 4 months old.
So 3 hutches in their shed with 2 piggies in each all happy. Until one day in March I noticed that Alfie's lip was all cut, he and oscar were teeth chattering really loud and rumble strutting and had obviously been fighting.
I separated them straight away and was upset because they had got on well up until then.
As its gotten warmer I have moved them all outside and the boys are in cages next to each other and can see the other through the wires of the runs. Last week I got them nuetered - i realise that this does not always change their behaviour. But I dont like to see them on their own, they look lonely especially Oscar so I was thinking of either trying them back together or putting each of them in with one pair of girls.

What do you think? And how do I go about it, how long to leave it since their op?
Thanks in advance for your comments

It's often advised that once a fight has gotten to the point where blood is drawn, the chances of them going back together are incredibly slim. Personally as you've already got them neutered, it would be much safer to put them in with a pair of ladies each.

Boars can go in with females 4-6 weeks after the op. My boar has come from rescue 4/5 weeks post-op I believe and he's gone straight in with a little lady. He is at the 'safe stage' though of 4 weeks. But if you want to be on the super-safe side, I'd go 6. When that time comes, it would be an idea for you to let the ladies pick their boy. Neutral space, try each pair with each boar and see which relationships are the best.

Hope that helps, there's plenty more people on here who can help with introduction tips too! :)

Hi,
Thanks to you all for advice. Have read the thread Glynis and am fully prepared now. Just got to wait a few weeks so we dont end up with babies (however cute they are) My friend breeds them and I have fallen in love with them i have to stop myself from having a baby everytime she has new ones lol.
I can fully understand how people end up with many many piggies as we went from 0-6 in the space of 6 months!
Will let you know how we get on and am sorting out pigtures of everyone to post.

thanks again kaz x
