Hafina is having her bad eye removed today

Sadly, Hafina's bad eye has steadily deteriorated over the last two months, and nothing we have tried has made any impact at all to the (protected) infection inside her eye. It is not a decision we have taken lightly in view of eye operations being much riskier for guinea pigs and rabbits than for other species.

Please keep your fingers crossed for my gentle, sweet natured lady!

Everything crossed for little Hafina today, and hugs heading your way - go and put the kettle on Wiebke I think you are going to need several strong cups of coffee to get through the morning!

I'm so sorry to hear this, you must be frantic for your little one :(
One of my little girls had a 'cloudy' eye when we had her and the vet did lots of tests on her - we thought it was a congenital cataract but would have opted for any surgery she may have needed if necessary as they can still lead normal lives :)
Am sending lots of gentle hugs for Hafina and loads of wheeky healing vibes for her to have a speedy recovery x>>

Phoenix my one eyed bunny sends all his love as he has been through the same op. He says as horrible as it was he feels so much better now without his poorly eye. Having one eye makes no difference at all to him he copes so well and we are hoping Hafina soon feels alot better too. x

Saw this on fb this morning and been thinking about you and Hafina since. Misty and I send gentle hugs and kisses to her, hope all going well x
 
Hafina has not made it :(

I am gutted to announce that Hafina has sadly passed away on the operating table; the strain on her heart was too much.

When I took her to the vets this morning, I somehow couldn't picture her coming back home when I said good bye to her. That is now the fourth out of five operations that I have had the right gut feeling about. I so wish there had been another way left for my sweet girl!

Terfel has very much what looks like a bladder stone on his x-ray; it is definitely not a good day!

Wiebke, I am so gutted for you :( rest in peace beautiful Hafina, she was a big part of the forum and things like this remind me not to take my piggies for granted, we need to make the most of them everyday we have them. So sorry to also hear about Terfel, hopefully something good will happen to balance things out. Big hugs to you and David x

I am so very sad to see this, you must be absolutely gutted.

Please take Terfel to Simon, and get him to operate if it is a bladder stone. I will help you out with lifts from the railway station and he would be very welcome to stay if he does need an op.
