We had our elevenses grass in splendid solicitude on the mezzanine:

The lunch grass was eaten on the top floor of the cage:

...but one was interrupted by Ceri:

(Please wait for the next instalment)

Afternoon tea saw Hafina downstairs, all under her own steam:

Uh oh! Here comes trouble...

But for the first time, Hafina didn't just run away:

The digestive nap was taken on the top floor again - you can see her head peeking out just above Nerys' bum on the top floor:

Hafina has not only figured out how to navigate around the cage in record time, but she has now started to interact with the tribe on her own. I am sure that she will settle soon now and will hopefully work out to join the scrum under the dining table soon!

Lovely little story. So pleased she's fitting right in. :)

Who's the white piggy with the little brown bottom? Flumpet has a little brown bum and it makes me smile every time I see it. :(|)

This is amazing, how lovely to see her settling in with the others so quickly. Perhaps they don't perceive her as a threat, and are therefore gentle to her, so that she in turn feels safe. I am so enjoying following her progress.

It is always hard to stand back and see a new piggy unhappy before they start integrating - the dominance process is necessary and goes best if one doesn't tamper with it, however tempting it is! It is always hard on MY nerves to tread the balance on how much to push and how much to leave be! mallethead

That is Telyn - the white aby with the red face - and the cute red bum! I have a very soft spot for her as I have had her since she was eight weeks old.

Flumpet looks cute from the back as well!

Sorry, guinea pigs during introduction are not gentle, but have been trying out over the last couple of days how far she would be pushed. Finally, Hafina has decided to stand up for herself, at least a little - it is all about the rules of dominance! Hafina is still being shoved aside and "put into place" by the others, and that will last for a bit longer.

But between chasing Hafina, I have seen Llewelyn licking her eyes and others nuzzling her.

Aha, well Telyn has a very cute bum! I've just about worked out who all your piggies are from the front, will have to work on the back views. :(|) Except Nerys- I'd know that bottom anywhere.

She could totally be a model.
Nerys curves are so famous now, I tell you.

Hafina is so cute. I'm glad she seems to be settling in alright. She is a darling x)

Hey, Wiebke; I never really thought about it before but it's just come to me. Are your piggies free range?

Yes, they are during the day, at least when I'm there (which is most of the time). I won't repeat what people have said about it, but once you have had them free range once, you just can't go back... All my piggies have been free range for the last five years. The majority prefers to stay in the living room, though. Only Ffion is coming into the kitchen when I'm cutting some grass or making piggy dinner!

That's really great. I dream of being able to let mine free range.
And yeah, once you have them roaming about like that, it has to be impossible to go back to having them just in a cage, I bet it's lovely. Do any of them ever come and sit by your feet? x)

Ffion does, and some of the ones that have passed did. Sometimes the whole tribe comes out to remind me that I'm running late or that the noises my hubby is making in the kitchen should result in some more food for them... mallethead

I know I couldn't go back from mine being free range either. It's like we are living in a large c & C ourselves though as we have grids blocking off the kitchen (except if I want to let them in) and the wires, telly, etc. We also block off the bedroom door but they have free run of the living room and hall. Their cage is always open and so is the trixie run so they can go in either but they all sleep under the coffee table on the fleece we have put there.

This is how my living room piggy corners look like:

I am using my extra C&C grids to fence off the book case and open cables or to create a temporary holiday pen together with the four front grids of the cage for when we are out for any length of time:

I must admit that there is nothing cuter than a piggy train at rush hour!

PS: Roaming is not advisable if you are living in rented accommodation - piggies do tend to nibble a bit at things and can have the occasional accident on the carpet despite your best efforts!

I love the little piggy hideout under the Tv :))

I'm so jealous :<> I can't even begin to imagine how wonderful it is to have your little furry friends out and about like that.
I can't wait for the day when I can have a piggy paradise like you do, Wiebke. You're sooooo lucky!

I am speechless....everything looks PERFECT. I hope one day, I'll have a tribe of guinea pigs like you...My family already calls me crazy but I only have 1 pig and 3 turtles...rolleyes That's nothing compared to my forum friends. :)) And I'm also very happy for Hafina who seems to be fitting in really well. :)

If it's any consolation, I had to wait for five years until I could have more than two guinea pigs at once! rolleyes

And of course, I took those pictures after I'd had a good clean - it looks rather messy at times with so many piggies gamboling around!
