I was wondering if anyone on here cuts their piggys hair in the summer? I have a few piggys with really long hair and I'm worried they will get to hot under all that hair! So I was wondering if its ok to give them a trm? does anyone else do this or is it best just to leave them be? Do you use sissors or clippers?
Many thanks :)
Heidi

I cut Joe's hair to keep him cool and knot free. I use scissors. He's such a scuffball that he looks much tidier with shorter hair anyway. :(|)

I cut Florence's hair (she's a texel) and she seems much happier when she's not such a wiggy pig :))

Awwwww! Joe is my Scruff's identical twin lol!!

I haven't been brave enough to cut Scruff's hair - other than a quick bum trim for cleanliness!

Romeo and Cesar have 'skirts' so I trim these really short in the summer, as I always think the extra hair might make them hotter! And i like to keep their bums clean in case flies come in.:)

I cut Cali and Blings hair mainly to keep it from getting knotted and soiled. I especially cut it short around their bums as this can be the big problem area for matting. They dont like me much for doing it but its worth it xx

I cut one of my piggies fur just around her bum as it gets quite long! I haven't had her that long so i'm not sure what i'll do when it gets really hot. I just use scissors when i trim her :)

I use clippers on my two long hairs, if I use scissors Caramel will scream like I am murdering her :red

Clippers are quicker and easier so are less stressful for mine, they have full number 2 cuts quite regularly in the summer and when they are in for the winter they have number 3. Caramel finds when her hair is long it is very uncomfortable and she hates being touched then but when short is a lovely cuddly piggie. drool

I cut my coronets shorter in summer. I found that it also helps keeping down the messes from the lawn.

We always used to cut the bum hair of pitch our long haired piggie. Cutting it avoided matting etc.

I also cut around the bums, just to keep it clean down there. Snowy tends to get verry matted and it stains yellow (she is white).... i will not be getting any prizes for the bes haircut ever, but it does the job :p

Thanks everyone, I have used the sissors to cut my piggys hair today, I think I need to finish off with the clippers tho as I found out today I shouldnt give up my day job to become a hairdresser :(|) My piggys hate me for cutting their hair but they would hate me even more if they had a mirror :{
Anyway they are much cooler so I'm still glad I have done it,lol I hope they forgive me :0
