I've read the helpful stickies about boar hair care down there and am aware of debris, hair wrapping around the dinkle etc but I don't understand how the hair around Angus's bum (he is long haired) manages to curl back into his anus and seems to go in quite far on both sides?!
I handle him just once a day at the mo as I've only had him 11 days and am playing the slow taming game but check him over daily and without fail the hair is up there good n proper!
He's 9 weeks old and a wriggler so don't fancy cutting the hair yet.
Just wondered if anyone has any top tips on managing it as I don't want him to be uncomfortable.
Thanks!

I have two long haired guinea pigs now. I did have a previous long haired one over a year ago. I never had problems with his hair disappearing up his bum. But with Granville and Marlow I check daily to remove debris and hair. I have noticed with Marlow that he definitely becomes less mobile when he has "issues needing attention" down below.1481744266380.webp

I'm having a little bit of an issue with Penny at the moment, she has short hair around the delicates but it's fine and frizzy and has started to get a bit matted. I'm also interested on reading some tips on the best ways to trim a wriggling piggy's delicates!

Marlow is gorgeous! I'm relieved Angus isn't alone. We do take on extra issues with long haired piggies but they're so worth it!

IMG_2217.webp Well, apologies for being graphic but last night the damn hair was right up Angus's Dinkle and quite firmly wedged. So I gently removed it and trimmed the area. He wriggled briefly but it wasn't so bad. I feel better for him now!

Haha! I get you, we do get treated with ALL the glamorous jobs! Thanks, I felt so much better for him when it was cut - so he must have done too!
