This is a bit weird but Jemima keeps trying to eat my hair!

When she's on my lap she jumps up at it and grabs mouthfuls which I have to pull off her.

I've never had a guinea pig do this before.

Anyone else?

My piggy Twix does this. In all my life i've had 6 guinea pigs and she's the only one that does it. Only need to drop my guard for a second before she's chomped off a big tuft!

Some of my pigs do this to me too. It is totally normal. My late Peronel ate my hair without me realising every time I was holding her. I had short pieces all over my hair! Lol.

So is Jemima trying to be dominant over me? Ha. Well she got her husband well under the thumb so why not me as well I guess...

Barbering is far more complex and there is likely not to be one simple explanation, as in my experience it is often a non-dominant piggy that is barbering. it may be just a case of too much temptation in the same league as carpet fringes...

It's very interesting and I've seriously never heard of this so shall do some research, thanks.

P.s... that picture is awesome!

I have noticed that Archie will bite my hair where my split ends stop, I think he really hates all the split ends and tries to trim up my fur so its neat and in good condition like his. He really hates the frizzy hairs too, he will go to the root and pluck them out. So maybe they can tell when your hair isnt 100%?

No nibbling, but if I've got my blonde hair down when I'm holding Lloyd, he tries to run up my torso to it and starts sniffing and going barmy.

You get the same reaction when he spots fresh hay in his cage, so I've interpreted to mean he thinks my hair is straw-like and needs a cut...
