Hi
I have just noticed that one of my pigs Sue, has quite a large bald patch on her back. We hope to take her to the vet on Monday. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thank you

It looks more typical for mange mites. Good that you are having her seen by a vet for a proper diagnosis to make sure that that is indeed what you are dealing with. We can only make educated guesses over the internet.
If it is mange mites, she will either need a course of ivermetin injections or a high dosed topical treatment that is repeated 3-4 at the product specific interval to kill of any emerging eggs and prevent a return. You will also have to treat all companion piggies. The usual pet shop products are too low dosed for efective treatment, so please do not be tempted to home treat!
With a prompt full course of a good quality treatment, mites can be got over pretty easily at an early stage. The discomfort/itching should be gone within a couple of days after the second round. ;)

She has got parasites from the hay they were eating. All of them get they're 3 dose of medicine today and she seems to be growing hair back and the itching has virtually stopped.
Thank you for your help :D
