Hi Just wondered if anyone had any piggies that have lost hair?

One of my piggies seems to have lost some hair in a patch just off centre of the middle of his body towards his rear end, i dont know if he has been scratching or pulling at it himself or if there is a serious problem?

i know i worry alot about my piggies but they are the first pets ive had since childhood:{

Hi Sometimes, they will go bald if they have mites/lice. If you do not treat them, then you can by a treatment that has invectmin in it. This is a spot on treatment, where you just squeeze the tube onto the back of piggies neck. I have used this for many years on my guinea pigs and never had an issue. If your piggy is in with others then they all have to be treated. You can by it from most pet shops. Hope this helps:):

Thank you i will get some tomorrow, i had wondered if it was something like that, they've been outside alot lately and i wondered if maybe they had picked up some bugs out of the grass

Thanks alot for your help

I'm really worried now, my poor piggy, i feel really awful, i will go to pet shop tomorrow and try some spot on if he is no better by monday tuesday i will go to a vet:(

well just applied spot on to both piggies, they now look like grease piggies! but i have to say they have both stopped scratching quite instantly which is good.

Ive also bought some insecticide shampoo, but i wondered when do i use it now as i dont want to wash the spot on out, do you have to leave it so long?

Any help greatly received as always!

What would i do without the guinea pig forum you guys are fantastic:)
