Can anyone help me, I have two female guinea pigs this afternoon I noticed that my long haired guinea pig looked like her hair had been cut. Could my other guinea pig of done this to her, she has always been the dominate guinea pig. What does this mean it's never happened before. Is it normal?

Yes. It is known as barbering and is relatively common (luckily my girls don't do it!). I don't know if there is any way to stop this behaviour or not as I've never had experience of it. They may be some more information available in the Guinea Pig Behaviour section of the forum :).

It can sometimes just be a habit they have, or sometime be that their diet is a bit low in fibre, so always have hay available for them to chew on instead :)

Back when I had Fred and Nearly Hairless Nick, Fred was the dominant one. Nick always chewed on his hair though.

Maybe Nearly Hairless Nick wanted more hair :))

My Annie is doing this to Doris today :{ why does it happen? Doris is more dominant that Annie, could it be a submissive behaviour? Like monkeys when they preen eachother?

Oddly enough, one of my Aby's was pulling the hair of one of my younger Coronets's the weekend - he's never done this to him before :{ They live separately but were having floor time in pens next to each other and usually just say hello, sniff and touch noses x)
My daughter was a bit upset but I explained about barbering - the piggy on the receiving end didn't even notice but he has sooo much hair, he probably never felt a thing :))

Sometimes it is just a habit.
My peruvian barbers himself regularly. I hve tried everything, but he loves to barber himself. The hair his legs and bum is so short, it looks like we climbed in there with a clipper. He does a good job though, so if he is happy, then I am.
