I got the piggies out tonight. They don't come out every day, but it's just as well they did tonight. Hamish's wee is pink and on further inspection he has about four large cream cheesy looking circular blobs inside where his penis pops out. I couldn't get a proper look at all of his penis as he wasn't impressed and I don't have another pair of hands, but it doesn't look very good. :(

I will be ringing the vets first thing Monday morning as I would expect he needs anti-biotics. Is this likely to be a UTI or something else? How much should I worry? ?/

As if that wasn't enough I had to clean Dougals bum out as it was extremely stinky and gungy with poo & creamy stuff. I had to do it before when I first got him. Is this normal or should I worry about him too?

Please help!

Why do these things always happen at a weekend and there's no-one around :( He's only 5 months old. How can he be having such problems? I know I'm probably getting more upset than is necessary but that's me! :Ayociexp118:

Oh I hoped somebody would have replied to you. I would be just as upset as you are. I guess Hamish has an infection if he has pink wee. He needs antibiotics to help with the pain. Could you call your vet tomorrow and ask for advice? They may be able to give you them without seeing him although I am not sure. I know they would charge emergency prices but I would get him seen before Monday as the little one may be sore. You do not need to worry as I hear so many piggies having these problems and once they have antibiotics they are fine.

Thanks :) Yes, I will ring them in the morning. I'm not well myself at the moment & these things always seem to happen when you're not at your best. He seems bright and perky as usual and eating fine. At least he doesn't appear ill and hopefully I will have caught it in time before it develops into something horrible.

Has Hamish had anything to eat that may have turned his wee pink? Carrots, red pepper, beetroot can all do this. Does he seem in discomfort when weeing?

Thanks for replying. No he hasn't had anything like that and there is definitely something wrong because of the blobs I mentioned. He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. I just hope it's something straight forward. Poor baby :(

Just wondering, he hasn't had any red/ orange veg today as that can make wee turn pink. It's good that he is eating well and is his normal self, as if it is an infection it sounds like you may have caught it early. Has he lost any weight at all? When one of my girls had a UTI her only symptom was weight loss.
Best of luck and get well soon Hamish!

It could be a UTI or another infection of some sort. The blobs could also be boar glue, or other gunky stuff that our little furry boys manage to get trapped in their bits :x and may or may not be related to the 'infection'.

Discoloured urine always requires a trip to the vet, sooner rather than later. Hopefully it'll be something simple and easy to resolve :)

A UTI is possible. Until you can take him to the vet, you could try syringing him unsweetened cranberry juice. Ocean spray light is a favourite between members on here. Also make sure he is drinking enough as both water and cranberry juice will help to flush out his bladder.

The white gunky bits could be calcium deposits in his urine which could indicate he has a little too much calcium in his diet. Of course, this is only one possible explanation so please do not take my word for it.

if you can, try and take a urine sample to the vets with you. The best way is to place Hamish in to a washing up bowl or plastic carrier, wait for him to pee and syringe up his urine. feeding watery veg such as cucumber may help to speed up the process. The fresher the urine the better. This way, your vet will be able to test the urine straight away.

Good luck x

Thanks everyone for your replies. We have a vets appointment for 9.30 am tomorrow, so wish us luck. Hamish still seems fine in himself this morning and is eating and moving about as well as usual.

I will try and get some cranberry juice in the meantime and he's had his cucumber this morning. How much cucumber is too much? Can I give him some more at tea time? They have had about a quarter of a whole cucumber between them.

Good luck with the vets appointment. I would not give him any more cucumber just in case he gets an upset stomach.

Hamish has seen the vet & got a course of Baytril for 5 days. The lesions on his foreskin are much improved today, even before any antibiotics & he did a couple of copious wee's on the way & on the vets scales which were both clear. She gave him a good check over & said his tummy felt ok & maybe there was a slight infection. I'm relieved that my little boy is ok. :)
