Ive, always kept Hamsters, never had any problems apart from Pyometra in the girls.
The lastest boy, Sausage I don't think is right ( apart from he's a nutcase) lol
He keeps scratching if he's asleep he wakes up with a jump & starts scratching again. Does anyone no how to treat him, or is a vet job.
I feel so sorry for him.

I've had 8 hamsters over they years and as you know am slowly working on OH to have another (its a long task!) I never encountered the problem you are describing. If he is scratching so much in his sleep that it wakes him up he is obviously very uncomfortable (and might even be in pain). I would take Sausage to see the vet if he was mine. It is not normal behaviour.

Firstly,
Does his skin look irritated?
If his fur falling out in the areas he is scratching most,
Have you thought about mites,
Mange
And also allergies to his substrate?
Could he be stressed?
Are his ears flaky and dry? That usually indicates dry skin,
Has he got access to a sand bath?
Also is it just itching, have you noticed a runny nose or strange breathing, that could mean a RI and mites at the same time :( :(

If he's waking himself up with the itchiness I'd say there's an issue that's causing it.

It might be best to get him checked out at the vets unless you can identify something like an allergy :)

I've had four hamsters and never witnessed this behaviour- as said above it sounds like something is irritating him. I'd also see a vet. Hope he is ok X

It could be a bedding allergy or mites. Vet vet vet.

Best of luck. Hope it is easily diagnosed and treated.

One of my hamsters had this and responded to spot on treatment recommended by our vet. Hope it settles soon
