Our 3 year old guniea pig has a UPI and is on bacterial, I'm hand feeding at the min and her gusts are still moving she's eating small amounts of grass etc the problem is I'm coming down with something myself and if it gets worse I don't want to put my little girl at risk if I'm in bed unwell, if anyone is experienced at handle ding in the Colchester area and would be able to help out if needed it would be a great weight off my mind thank you

Are you able to get your piggy t the vets? Often they will take a piggy in and feed it for you if you are unable to do it yourself. I hope you and your girl feel better soon. Sorry I'm nowhere nearby.

Sorry I am no where near you otherwise I would definitely help out. Not sure if any other members could help? Or as Vicki suggested try speaking to your vet. They may also have one of the vet nurses who may be willing to take your piggy and syringe feed her until you are better.

Fingers crossed you can get help xx

Thank you twirl is back at the vets today we will ask again but due to the bank holiday they are on a ghost staff but we will ask again

On the rare occasion when I am poorly I just put any piggies needing supportive care in carriers at the side of the bed. I can then just pick them up, feed them, and pop them back, without needing to leave my bed! It's not perfect, but it does work. Hope you are feeling better soon. If you do get the vets to do any supportive care, make sure they know how much syringe food a piggy needs. I get so many people bringing skeletal piggies to TEAS, after spending a few days in the vets, where their vet has said they have fed 5 mls of syringe food, three times a day!

A quick up date on twirl she is now holding her own we stopped seringe feeding her yesterday & her weight is stable :-) she's back at the vets today for an X-ray to cheek her heart and lungs fingers crossed it comes back that she does not have a heart conviction but we decided it was best to know for sure so we can manage the condition if she does have one, all piggies reading please squeak in support for her & owners cross everything your not using X thank you
