hey everyone! hope you and your piggles are all well! apologies for my inactiveness, i decided it was best to take a bit of a break away from TGPF but hopefully i can re-introduce myself over the next few months❤️

so the latest with us.. the girls are getting a cage upgrade!🤩💞

we are so excited and can’t wait to spoil our girls with more space to popcorn and live their little lives🥰

i am looking for recommendations please for handheld hoovers i can use in the cage! i’m looking for one you can hoover up both poos and left over hay if possible? thanks!

Nice to see you back.
How are the girls?
I seem to remember you were having some health issues a while back.

Sorry I can’t help with a hoover - I use a dustpan and brush

hiya!
thanks! its good to be back, i doubt ill be as active but i did really miss you all!
the girls are good at the moment (touch wood lol!) thankyou very much for asking!💞 how are yours?
no worries at all!

I also can’t help with the hoover - I also use a dustpan and brush - but wanted to say how nice it is that you are back!
I'm glad to hear you and your girls are well!

Another vote for dustpan and brush. I inherited a Hoover freedom (without the stick 🤔) but found a dustpan and brush works far better.

I use a small handheld wet & dry hoover I got in lidl, it does get a bit blocked at time but does make light work of hoovering poops! I’m sure she is or Amazon would sell something similar!

I have a beldray cordless vacuum which is perfect for poo and hay on fleece. It's not as powerful as my big vacuum so doesn't lift the fleece and the long nozzle gets to the back of the c and c. They're not that expensive either
thanks, will check it out! how often do you hoover your cage?

This is the one I bought a year and half ago. Rechargeable wet and dry. Works great for small hay and poop but we swapped to haybox which has strands too large to hoover. Still use it occasionally on the poops in the rest of the cage. I'd link to the listing but this listing has ended, I'm sure it will be relisted.

Hi, can I also suggest trying the dustpan with one of those rubber brushes (that are great for getting hay off fleece bedding etc).... Sometimes with a dustpan brush, you have to go over parts a few times, but the rubber brush seems to work better (for me).. Hope this helps 🙂

Once or twice a day. I have noodle mats on top of the fleece so most of the hay and poo gets shaken off those straight into the bin. Like @rp1993 I have to unblock the hoover quite often but it only takes seconds

nice! would love to see your set up if you don’t mind me asking?😊

We also use a dustpan for poos as I fear the poos would break up and clog a vacuum cleaner. I lift off used hay by hand and put it in the bin, then sweep up the poos and small bits of hay and put them in the compost. Then I use a Hoover cordless vacuum cleaner to suck as much remaining dust out of the fleece, to save the washing machine (pretty sure hay dust was a major cause of the death of our last machine!).

You can but a pet wash bag from Amazon for this! That’s what lots of us in the forum use to save them!

Ooh, I'll check that out. It's a nice new washing machine and I would like to prolong its life as much as possible!
