Planing on hand washing my 72 inch fleece on Wednesday morning. I plan on doing it outside on my patio since it’ll be around 60 degrees where I live. Doing it in a bin or basin. First time "hand" washing it since my laundry machine needs repairing (even my clothes need hand washed). And then the guinea pigs will get some new toys and a new strawberry cuddle house. So excited for that to arrive from amazon! Everything will be new + fresh! I also might be extending their cage and adding 5 ft!

Anyway! I’m planning on adding soap and detergent and then rinsing and that hanging it out to dry for a few hours until its no longer damp.

Is there anything else I should add? I know a lot of members here use white vinegar but in my year of having guinea pigs, I have never used it. I was going to use baking soda too until I found out it isn’t good for pigs. Is that true? Does everything else sound alright? Is that how most people handwash? Also, I read on the internet that hand washing fleece will detergent can make it look like it’s falling apart? Never heard of that. Any advice + tips appreciated :) ...

I hope you have good strong arms to hang it out to dry. I just use non bio wash powder and white vinegar- works a treat. Good job you are going to have a hot day to dry it...

I have never hand washed my liners, but should probably start as it seems quite a bit easier and no mess in the washer and dryer! Good luck!

Sorry, I’ve not hand washed any of mine.
Me neither... too much like hard work lol. I go to the local launderette and can do 2 massive bags of fleeces in 23 minutes... I love it!

I have never smelled fleece this fresh after drying it in the sun (ended up washing today) wow I don't know if I can ever go back

I wash mine in the machine (in wash bag) then line dry. They smell so fresh when line dried.

Yeah i love the warmer days when the fleeces can go on the washing line outside... just fresher...

I had to hand wash our clothes once in the past when our washing machine broke and I had to wait for us to get a new one. Had to wash it in our jacuzzi tub and it hurt my flipping back! Mind you loads of people where I came from (Philippines) still hand wash clothes, but blimey I would never go back to doing it the manual way unless for a few pieces. I would hate doing it with fleece bedding, especially when the ones I have are the ones I bought from Ziggy's. They'd be flipping heavy to squeeze the water out.

Yes the fleece I washed was HEAVY since it was all in one piece but the washing was very fast (only 15 minutes) and then I only walked a few feet to let it dry on my porch railing for three hours-overall it wasn't TOO terrible and I just loved the way it smelled. I haven't actually washed human clothes yet, hoping to get machine working before I have to do that eeek!
