I took so many photos of all my girls together (and Dexter in his high rise isolation flat) that had a really hard time choosing some to post. So got it down to 20 and put them in a slideshow. You just click on the picture to go to the slideshow. Hope you enjoy them. Keep an eye out for Olga (the little tricolour peeking up on hind legs and some cute piggy lips).

My white peru is now officially Lillia.

AWWW - you have such a lovely scrum of girls!

Welcome Lillia! ;) But I guess, shy Anya is still my special girl, as her old friends are with me... It's so good to finally see her in her new home!

You know, you're really lucky that you are so far away or I might come and pignap Dexter - he is drop dead gorgeous! Are you sure that all that rain is not just my drooldrooldrool?

Thanks Tinso. I have 18 piggys. 13 in the shed which includes a neutered boy, then a male trio in a chicken coop style hutch and a male pair who live in an extra wide 2 storey hutch. At the moment the shed is a 6x4 and has a 2 storey hutch in it for a second level and somewhere of interest but in the Spring we will be attaching an outside run and have already prepared the ground for it and sown it with orchard, rye and timothy grass.

Dexter is stunning to look at but haven't sussed out his personality yet. Teasle is a real character and loves her food.

Thank you Wiebke for the Lillia suggestion. Anya is definitely quite shy around me but I'm happier now as I think she is more confident in the group than I initially thought. Yesterday when I had her out for floor time with the others I was sitting on the floor and had a blanket over my knee as I was doing nail and hair trims. Anya kept hiding under the blanket, pushing up my jean leg and under my legs.

He he - Dexter is something isn't he!

Wonderful photos. So many piggies together... A gaggle of guineas I like to call that!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the slideshow. Took me ages getting the pics, resizing etc but was a lot of fun. No idea how hard it is to try and get a pic with them all in it!

Must get some of my boys as well before they start feeling left out.

Such gorgeous pigs! Just wondering how do you keep the shed warm in winter? I have 2 pigs in a shed and have to use a heat emitter and snuggle safe. Are yours climatized and just use the hay, etc?

Lynn :)

Ruby I am desperate to get a camera put in the shed and then I really will watch them all day (and night!).

Ping this is my first winter with the shed. I had a lot less piggys before and had them in various different hutches with Hutch Huggers over them. Lots of hay and of course each other to cuddle up into. Been doing that for a few years and never had problems. The equine bedding I use is very absorbent and excellent at wicking away wetness so piggys are never damp.

I think we are probably quite lucky here in that our weather never goes to huge extremes of hot and cold and it tends to change from one range to the other fairly steadily giving the piggys time to adjust. When I've needed to in the past I've added in hot water bottles, wrapped in fleece covers and buried under vet bed with something on top to weight down so piggys can't get at them. I really must try out the snugglesafe heatpads as heard so many good things about them. Another tip I have been given but not tried is to heat certain types of brick up in the oven (like they use in night storage heaters) and add these for warmth. Two problems I have faced with that is getting the right bricks and how to ensure they give out the heat without risking the piggys getting burnt on them.

I've also insulated the shed by putting up harboard and filling the space in between with the wooden equine bedding I use. I've done the top half so that the top half of the wood in the shed is still free to breath and let air circulate.

So far the shed is always cosey and dry when I go out but I will continue to keep close watch on it as haven't had any particular cold weather, ice snow etc yet.

I had a good one on one time with Dexter yesterday. Gave him a hair trim and nail cut and had lots of cuddles. He is a total babe! and really calm to work with. I was even able to put him on his back and trim his tummy hairs (first piggy I've had to do that with, his coat is so rich and long).

My son has decided that Dexter is his and I've said that is ok as long as he helps with feeding etc. We recently lost one of our cats to renal failure and just this week I've lost one of my chinchillas (long story but came to me in bad way with dental issues and very badly malnourished). My son has been very upset about our losses. So when Dexter was in yesterday Luke sat on the floor and lifted Dexter over onto his knee and had some lap time with him. He is excellent with him and Dexter was very relaxed about the whole thing. Really cheered him up.

AWW that's lovely. It's sweet your son is so attached too isn't it?

Your shed is fab fab fab. I hope to have one soon too.

One thing I worry about is rats - how do you make sure they don't go into the piggies? or am I just silly?

I want a cuddle with Dexter he is simply stunning x)x)
Your girls are beautiful x)x)

xxxxxxxxxx
