Hi everyone!

We have had our little piggie/potato squad for a month now and are completely smitten. Love every part of them...except the mess.
Well more specifically how achey we all are from cleaning said mess. (I'm super happy they are pooping everywhere because if they weren't it would be another story).

We use fleece and extra pads / bathmats about the cage in higher traffic areas. (5x2 c&c)
It all sits top on various ikea units at 45cm high so it really is as high as it can be where we can still reach the back of the cage.

At the moment we are using a reg basic dustpan and brush but I am ordering a rubber one today to see if it is easier to get the stray hay lifted.

Longer term, we were thinking a handheld vac might be another solution to spot clean, minimising the time spent cleaning and reduce the bending over - more important for my (adult) daughter who has some major issues with her knee which impacts how long she can stand, how she can shift her weight when bending etc.

My daughter is totally on board with sharing the piggie care and I would like to find something that supports this vs her not being able to be a part of it all (or causes her more pain than she is in already).

I see some older posts with a few recommendations but just wondering if anyone has more up to date suggestions of handheld vacs that can pickup poops and rogue hay but not the fleece.
(range/model specific if possible so I can shop for the right ones)

Hopefully someone would be able to advice you :) Personally I use washable gloves as it is sooo much easier for me to just pick up the poop, then I use my hand to "sweep" the stray hay. I also use a 2x1 litter box and tbh i dont really have too much stray hay because of that - only a handful by the edge of the litter box. I also have a step to be able to reach some areas. They also poop a lot on there so it only takes me 10 minutes to do my spot cleaning each time. I also have 5x2 cage :)

In terms of handheld vaccuums I see a lot of people use the russel hobbs i believe. I know guinea pigs will get used to the noise it makes over time but I did not want to stress mine out so I have never really used them. Goodluck on your hoover hunting! :)
