Does anyone use a handheld vac for their piggy areas? Was looking to get one for quick tidy-ups and wondered if anyone had one they would recommend? Looking for one that can cope with the hay but isn't too noisy.

I bought one, a fairly decent one, but in the end it just doesn't compare to using a proper vac - especially when it comes to hay. My advice would be to save your money and just use your normal vac. :)

mynes on charge all the time next to the cage ,wouldnt be without 1. none of them any good for big bits of hay but great for 90% no getting hoovers pluged in , if its late and every 1in bed they are quiet. i got the cheap value 1 from argos , theres a flap inside to stop smells etc coming out, just rip the flap of , then it sucks bigger bits:)) it was only £4.99 in the salerolleyes

Wow that sounds like a bargain happyasapig. I've got a Dyson DC35. Great suction although better for poop than hay which clogs it sometimes. Running time is only about 6 mins but always enough time for me doing the cages. Was a lot more expensive than the £4.99 though..... and its on charge all the time too.

I bought a hand vac last week and oh my goodness clean outs are much shorter now!

It was only £13.99 for my local B&M bargains, the thing with cheaper stuff like this vac is if it breaks its cheap enough to replace :)

We had one but found it just didn't do the job and stick to the normal hoover now.

This the same place i got mine, probs the same, mine was red, until i dropped it down the stairs and it refused to work again! :(
However it was cheap i cant complain, my mum gave me her hand held 'dirt devil' which is fine too, i used to have shavings so it was great for whipping round the edge of the cage, but have changed to fleece this week but its very handy for getting up crumbs and any bits of hay etc too.
