Give him plenty of praise and reassurance and turn it into a regular ritual and he will come round.

Is it unusual for a new guinea pig not to make noise I've had popcorn since Wednesday and he hasn't squeaked yet
It takes time for a piggy to feel safe in their new surroundings. Just continue as you are and we're sure eventually your piggy will gain more confidence and wheek the house down when its feeding time.

My piggie took about three weeks to squeak, and even then only during floor time and only occasionally. He's my first so I'm no expert, but it seems to take them quite a bit of time to really adjust.
