I can’t believe we are celebrating Herbie’s 2nd Gotcha Day today. Where does the time go?!
Herbert Lemon arrived as a young piggy who had been bullied by his rabbit cage mate.
Subsequently, he was bullied by another young piggy so he had a bit of a rough start.
Fortunately, when I adopted him as a pal for the then recently bereaved Hamish, they got on like a house on fire. Hamish took Herbie under his wing and Herbie blossomed into a huge, cheeky and sometimes grumpy big boar!
Herbie took it hard when we lost Hamish a few weeks ago. He wouldn’t bond with any of my other singles so I knew I had to find a buddy for him quickly. Enter Erik (Henrik) who reminds me of Herbie as a young pup. I’m amazed with how well Herbie has coped with becoming a leader - he obviously learnt some good skills from Hamish and it was his time to shine!
It’s fascinating how Herbie’s colour has changed in the last couple of years. He started out buff colour and has become darker and darker so he now looks more sable!
