Adult Guinea Pig
Today is McMac's 3rd gotcha day
On 16th August 2009 my mum called me down to the kitchen. I went down and in the doorway there was my mum with a little grin on her face. She said for being so helpful and good lately she got me a surprise. I was a little confused but intrigued to see what my present was. So she stood aside to let me into the kitchen and on the side was a cardboard box with air holes and Pets At Home along the side.
By this point I was just like omg omg omg lol and so I went to peek inside and there was little baby McMac. Poor little thing was scared as you can tell.
My mum said she picked him out because she loved his sort of champagne colour, and I had never seen one in that colour before either.
She handed me the car keys and said all his stuff was in the car, and to look after him as he was my responsibility now.
So I ran out to the car and got all his stuff and took it up to my bedroom. Set up his cage all nice for him and put him in there to get used to everything.
He has had quite a rollercoaster ride in these 3 years. About a month after getting McMac I got Momo to keep him company. And although they didn't match perfectly well in their small cage (I wasn't piggy savy at the time) they were happy enough
I moved them down into the garage as their larger cage (yet still a bit too small) was taking up too much space in my room. I still went to visit them and everything though and that was that for the time being
But unfortunately on the 10th September 2011 Momo had to be PTS as he had gotten very ill :0 So I was left with McMac all on his own in the garage.
By this time I had joined the forum and I was learning so much about guinea pigs and so set out to make McMacs life as good as I could make it, in memory of Momo. So I went to visit him everyday with veg to keep him company and I took him for cuddles and gave him a nice big C&C cage to live in.
But this spring came and I thought to put him out into the spare hutch we had. But unfortunately the weather didn't agree and after just a couple of weeks I decided that McMac would once again come to live with me in my room.
He was so happy to be somewhere nice and warm yet still had light and fresh air and company, popcorning all the time and giving me little wheeks
But I was still on a mission to get McMac a guinea pig to keep him company, as much as I could try I could never be another guinea pig lol. So after asking around and searching I cam across Jayceestar who had boars in need of home. It took a while to find a day to come in but eventually my boyfriend had spare time to take me and so just last week I came home with Sprout
A little spring of a guinea pig that loves to hop about and do tracks around the cage.
So...I guess that is the story of McMac. I must say that today isn't his actual birthing day but it was the day he came into my life
