Junior Guinea Pig
Tomorrow is Bruno's (Mr B) 3rd adoption birthday! I thought I would share his story of how he arrived. (It is quite long winded so apologies)
We had lost our guinea Henry very suddenly leaving his brother Ted alone. Ted was a very bossy dominant little piggie I did research into getting him a companion but I didn't want to upset him and make him feel threatened in his own home, which could have happened, so we decided not to take the risk
One evening 6 months later I was doing a hay run to pets at home and passed the adoption section and there was a little brown piggie called Bruno all alone in a small tank. I don't know why I asked why he was in there but I did and was told he was one of the stock pigs but had ring worm so was separated and treated and then was too big to go back in with the others. I was on automatic and asked to hold him and told them about Ted. I was very good and gave him back went home and told my partner. He was very sceptical about a friend for Ted but said it was my choice if I felt could look after two cages.
The day after I went straight after work thinking if he's still there it's fate! He was so I asked of I could take him. I had to buy a rubbish cage because they didn't want me taking him with no house, I paid and we started to go through the health check. The shop assistant said she could see his nose was wet and that she couldn't let him go without seeing a vet. I felt bad and disappointed but also felt it was best for him to be checked. So I took all the bits home and waited for a phone call. He was given antibiotics and had to stay for a week in the shop.
Anyway this is where it all went strange. Two weeks passed when I called up I was told he's still sick and needs a second round of antibiotics. I was quite sad for him but accepted this. But after a month of being fobbed off I went in and asked to see him, as he was technically mine and was denied so I had a mini melt down as I started to feel this was very wrong and demanded to see the manger who I promptly accused of killing my guinea pig. Bruno was then brought from the back in a tiny box he looked so healthy and sad my heart broke but they said they couldn't release him until the vet signs him off and they are in next week.
The week after the manger called to tell me Bruno was to be PTS because he too ill and I had no choice in the matter and they would refund me. I knew this was wrong and felt so helpless. I called their head office and told them the whole story and was told again to wait. I couldn't sleep thinking about how crewel it was to kill a healthy animal. The day after I got a phone call from an area manager at 7pm asking my side of the story as he was out side the store. He told me to come straight away to collect Bruno!
I never found out what was going on in our PAH but I have my theory's, and I still get dirty looks from some staff when I go in.
Anyway Bruno arrived two months later form when I first met him!
When the time came for him and Ted to meet Ted loved him they became inseparable straight away, I felt guilty I made Ted wait for a friend.
When Ted passed away we were quick to find Bruno a friend and he was very accommodating to Harold and now they are besties.
I have a couple of pics of Mr B on the night I first saw him and it makes me sad to see him all alone but he will never be alone now and can zoom full pelt when ever he likes
