I can't believe it's been three years already.
When I first met Odi, he was a small, pretty hectic boy showing a lot of fear aggression. If he would have been a dog, I would have been in a lot of trouble.
He had no manners at all and the girls were not amused. He freaked out when being picked up or held for a few seconds. I was always in danger of loosing a finger or two when giving out the veggies.
The first encounter with the girls (Billie, Tessy, Bonny) went wrong in a big way. During the second try, I sat in the bonding pen and stroked Billie till she accepted having him around. This wouldn't have worked with any other guinea pig than Billie. It really felt as if she accepted him as a favour to me.
Fast forward three years:
Today, Odi is a chilled boy who loves a good cuddle. The vet can do concious dentals (he developed teeth problems in spring).
He can still become a bit too excited about a girl in season, but he is a pleasant boar most of the time, guarding all of his girls. He even manages a bit of peacekeeping when it comes to the teenager from hell - though this will never be his strong point.
He has learned so much and has changed so much, more than any other piggy during my more than 30 years living with guinea pigs.
Love you, my sweet boy!
I hope we will have lot's of time together.
