It is already 3 years since big Pioden 'Magpie' (pronounced Peodden) arrived in a hurry and with a bang from The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue after the old patriarch Maelog had died. All we know about him was that he was neutered, 3 years old and no longer wanted... not even a name!
Pioden was huge, absolutely delighted/enthusiastic and the neutered boar with the dirtiest testosterone 'exhaust' I have ever come across.
Thankfully - although Maelog's mostly dainty ladies had been gently running the group around him in the last year or so in order to not hurt his feelings - they did accept the rather rampant and nearly double-sized new boar into their midst (most sows are sadly totally frightened of them).
It was one of the more fascinating bondings while watching the ladies slowly but inexorably gaining the upper hand.
In the end it was the ladies who had first choice of the dinner and not Pioden - not even with his half-sized best ladyfriend Helygen!
Behind his big frame and his excitement with the ladies lies a gentle and rather timid soul...
Sadly Pioden has lost all his 4 wives in just over a year but he has found new love with Dryw 'Wren' who is doing her best to catch up with him in size and prove that her baby name is a total misnomer!
Pioden has started showing his age a bit in recent months... But is the oldest of my current piggies!
