It is always extremely special when you can celebrate a day nobody would have imagined possible..

When triplet sisters Mererid, Morwenna and Myfina were born at TEAS sanctuary to a newly rescued sow in need of expert care due to her (and her equally pregnant daughter's) bad state, nobody could foresee that two of the tiny babies would reach the upper end of an average life span. Especially as Morwenna weighed only 40g and it was touch and go for her in the early days; not surprising seeing that their mother and big sister had come out of one of the more notable hellholes requiring a major multi-species multi-rescues retrieval and distribution action to cope with so many high care and rehabilitation needs animals and ending with a court conviction for the owner. And that the two sows had come to TEAS because they were classed at high risk.
Having just lost 3 of my Tribe piggies all very unexpectedly within a month at the start of 2014 (one of them a TEAS adoptee), I asked @furryfriends (TEAS) whether she would let me have one of the babies if she was thinking of rehoming them. A few days before the adoption day, I was asked whether I would like to take a pair and on the evening before it was suddenly all three of them as the sanctuary urgently needed all possible space for another emergency intake. Anyway, the Triplets have provided me with so many laughs with their mischievous baby antics and have been keeping their beloved adopted daddy cum nursery maid cum husboar well occupied; they even melted my disapproving hub's heart pretty quickly! The sisters were all different combinations of two out of three breeds in play. Myfina even had all three - very rare and a sign of long term uncontrolled inbreeding - and another reason why I never expected my two baby adoptees to live as long as they have.
There is a video of them having a trampolining session with a fleece cave in the enrichment guide: Enrichment Ideas for Guinea Pigs
Here they are in their salad days with their ever so patient and caring daddy boar Bedo 'Little Splendid Lord'

Myfina 'My Little Lovely One' sadly died over Christmas 2017 from a blockage, but Mererid 'Pearl' (there are black pearls after all; for her shiny coat) and Morwenna 'White Seas' (for her fluffy coat) have soldiered on. They are both showing their age now but every day with them has been a bonus for quite some time, anyway. They have never taken to another boar after Bedo's death in 2018.
