I think we need a thread for all those boar pair who live happily together. It's only natural that people start threads about troubled pairs because that's when you need help and support, but I think it scares new piggy owners who are considering boars.

I follow several Swedish piggy blogs with wonderful boar pairs. All you people on here with harmonious boy pairs, please share your wonderful lads and tell us about their lives.

thanks so much for this....jwhen i joined on saturday there was hardly any bad boar posts lol but since converting hubby he has been on sneakily and found all the horror stories...still allowed a friend but i want him to be very comfortable with this. Its only fair on Naboo

You'll have to excuse the quality of these, I'm at work and don't have my phone with me and it's got more recent photo's on it waiting to be uploaded.

My oldest pair are Toffee and Curly (black rex) they're coming up to 5 years, Curly was about 6 months old when he was paired with Toffee, and despite having a few spats of rumbling and chasing they've been perfectly fine all these years.

DSC00155.jpg

And then onto my Sokel piggies, Peanut and Pod, who don't stay still long enough to get a good photograph, and were another older/ younger combination, and they don't rumble or misbehave at all when they're together. The only time I've heard Peanut chatter is when it's directed at me, because he doesn't feel he's had long enough out in the run. They are the most charismatic piggies and all who meet them fall for them, well who couldn't when the beg so sweetly.

This is when they first came to me, see how small Pod is?

And now look how he's caught up

I love all piggies, but do have to admit that I prefer boars.

A great idea.
Here's my 'boar' story....

We did have two boars, Spike and Gizmo who lived together happily and a year later we adopted Stripes. We adopted Stripes from the Pets at Home Adoption centre. It was one of those occasions that I'm sure many people on here would relate to. We went in for hay, came out with Stripes! We were told he couldn't live with other pigs because of his history of fighting. So a 2 1/2 year old un nuetured male who had to live on his own wasn't going to have much hope of a new home as he'd been there 8 weeks.

Stripes became the next door neighbour, they got on fine, chatting to each other over the garden fence but Gizmo and Stripes made it clear they didn't want to share.
After Gizmo died at the beginning of this year we introduced Spike and Stripes and after a small false start (more to do with our anxieties than them) they now live happily together. Two of everything, lots of things to play with and an entrance and exit for everything seems to lead to a happy life. They've even been spotted snuggling up together recently on more than one occasion!

Here's the original happy couple Spike and Gizmo. (RIP gorgeous Gizmo)

And the new couple in one of those rare moments. (sorry for the poor quality, just snapped a quick photo with my phone, didn't want to miss it!)

It must be love........

Elijah and Errol, 16 month old brothers. Living in a 2x5 C&C so plenty of space. They live in the same room as 9 sows, there is trouble if they are housed next to the girls but they are harmonious living in their penthouse bachelor pad. :)

They are the lovely laddies in my avatar, too:

Too many rescued/rehomed to list and I have my two little boys Rolfy and Harris too, but will have to get an up to date photo of them.

Well I have 3 pairs of boars, one dad and son, two boars which I paired up and two that I had from Claire off here :)

I have also paired up two for Claire as well :)

They all get on fine, occaisionly grumble but nothing more rolleyes

Surprisingly i do have a happy boar pairing :))

Magoo (almost 2yrs) & Murray (1yr) They've been together since Murray was 7wks old.

I have 5 happy pairs of boars.

Mouse and Lucas

Champagne and Truffle

Eddie and Ziggy

Learoy and Troy

Jeff and Fudge

Live together in harmony most of the time, there is the odd argument but never anything serious. I did have a 6th pair of boars, but Lenny's partner George went to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year, they also got on so well for three years no hassle.

Great idea for a thread!

My two eldest boars Flash and Gordon are 14 months old and are extremely close. There's never even been a hint of any bickering. They always snuggle up together in their igloo, and play with each other all the time, their favourite being tag - chasing each other round the cage and popcorning! :))
If I take one of them out of the room then the other will start squeaking for him. I think what helps is there is a balance between them. Gordon is often affectionally called Grumpy Gordy :)), as you'll often him growl or see him rumblestrut (this has never led to anymore than just that) and Flash is a proper mummy's boy, very chilled out and still acts like he's a baby :)) Which I guess helps when Gordon gets a grump because Flash doesn't rise to it, he just ignores him! lol :))

Cenci, Moxie and Meeko, a boar trio. :) They've just been together a couple of weeks but are getting on brilliantly. Meeko is older, but I have no idea what age (a rescue), but he's very laid back and not aggressive at all. Cenci tries to be a bit dominant to Meeko but Meeko just ignores him! Moxie is just so so friendly and gets on great with the other two. Cenci and Moxie lived together from 7 and 5 weeks old and are best friends. :)

Only time will tell if they'll stay friends when Cenci and Moxie go through their teenage years! I hope they will, and I think they will because they're good friends now. Cenci might be a bit bold but I'm hoping it'll work out.

My boys used to fight all the time but thanks to you guys and your help, they're sorted and although not friends...They tolerate each other and live happily alongside each other.

Pigglies004.jpg

This is about as close as they'll get to each other. Unless I scare them :)) then they'll somehow manage to both squeeze into the tiniest spot together.

I think Arnold really likes Ralph. He constantly tries to get close to him but Ralph always chases him off.
I think Ralph is just a pig who prefers his own company but he doesn't mind sharing some of his space with a fellow piggy.
Before Louie died, Ralph was the same way. He'd chase Louie off whenever he tried to get close...Louie was just an affectionate little guy who wanted to be close to Ralph {:| I think my Ralph has some issues.
If I take Arnold out of the cage without him, Ralph whines like he's been abandoned. I really don't get him!
But I love him anyway.:))

And Nacho and Caesar, who have only been together four months, but hit it off straight away, they are both laid back boars :)

excellent thread as i am just about to attempt to properly bond Perry and Bullit tomorrow they have been ok a few times together but we have only just got a pad big enough for them to stay in if we are successful tomorrow and I think we were a bit wimpy before but now we have the twins bickering but not drawing blood we are a bit more used to little nips etc and hopefully I won't panic at the first slight chatter! :))

Prince Harry and Sparky, they have lived together for over 18 months Sparkies ex cage mate fell out with him so he shifted in with Harry

I love their names, Freddie and little Fred, it's so cute...like big Ted and little Ted from Play School! My sister has two boars and she says they get on much better with each other than her girl pairs ever did. They argue now and then, but a short bit of time apart fixes that. She usually picks one of them up and has a bit of mummy time with them and they go back all loving! One of hers is ultra laid back too. I love her pigs, they are so tame. My little nieces have hardened them up I think, they don't really get scared of anything. :))

Despite recent events some of my boys do get on...

Oh my goodness they are so adorable! Look at those 3 sets of kissable piggie lips! x) x)

I've only had boars since i was 7, i've had a happy trio even.

Pirate and Pickwick are my current pair of boars. They have lived with eachother since 5 weeks old, and are now 4 years old. They did fall out nearly two years ago and lived apart for a while. Every one seems to have the opinion that once they fall out they will never get on again. Well by accident they got in a run together and they have been best buddie again since. They've lived together again for a year now and get on better than ever before. Maybe it's just chilling with age but they are very happy boys :)

Some pic of them snoozing together.

I also had a pair of brothers, Heath and Heston.

SDC10037.jpg

They were very good friends and loved to have a cuddle together, sadly i lost Heath (white nose) to a URI ealry may last year :(

Although my boys are from the same litter, I understand some brothers cannot get on, but they are so close. They do the rumblestrutting thing then it all blows over in minutes.

Happy boars!

Here is my story.

I got Joey free from the local paper in September 2008 and he came to me in an appalling state with no hay, veg and was just hiding in his plastic house, but i soon sorted him out and he has lots of confidence now. Then two weeks later i got him a friend Gizmo from a local rescue centre, they bonded very well and have been very good friends since. Since Gizmo has been around Joeys confidence has increased even more and he now comes running for food and enjoys a cuddle and stroke.
Gizmo is VERY cheeky and vocal and is always the first to come wheeking for his veg.
They love being together and Joey even wheeks and looks for Gizmo if he is taken out of the cage, its sooo sweet to see them so happy together.

They love to share their veg and hay and they even sleep together in the hayloft.

Joey is the white/ginger one and Gizmo is the tri coloured one, they are both long haired piggys.

Here are a few photos of them both.

Sharing some hay.
