Five years ago Taffy and her last rescue born daughter Telyn arrived here and became part of the original Tribe. Taffy had been part of large rescue action from an allotment in Gateshead where she had been relentlessly bred back-to-back for her first year of life in horrible circumstances. The vet's estimate was 4 rather than 3 pregnancies from the state of her poor body.

It took a lot of tlc, patience and persistence to bring Taffy round, but eventually both her overused body and mind healed. Sadly Telyn died from heart failure shortly after her 2nd birthday due to inbreeding. Taffy had been developing congenital cataracts at around the same time, so I moved her out of the large Tribe group where she had been second in command and built a new cataract group around her with her best friend Tegyd and their devoted gentle husboar Terfel.

Considering what Taffy has been through, this is a very special adoption anniversary indeed!

The original Tribe with Telyn, Nerys, Nia, Ceri, Cariad, Taffy and the old patriarch Llewelyn; sadly only Nerys and Taffy are still with me.

Taffy looks like such a healthy piggy now, in your care. She's gorgeous!
What does this 'Gotcha day' mean, does it mean it's 5 years since the day you got her?

How on earth did you get them to sit in a line? My lot would be butt sniffing and pooping and just walk off as the shutter went down.

Exactly! As many of us don't know the exact birthday, the day of arrival has become a substitute.

Taffy is now a rather elderly lady, but she still weeks for her pellets, even though she has lost her big wheek several years ago. Not much escapes her nose or ears, despite her blindness.

I will have to do this when I've had my girlies for 1 year then!

Awww, the gorgeous Taffy :luv: I remember when you brought both Taffy and Telyn home. I can't believe it was 5 years ago.

I will always have a soft spot for her. Happy gotcha day beautiful xx

I love the last photo. Her looking so comfy in her elder years almost makes up for her awful first year of life. May she have many more gotcha days.

Wow, Happy Fifth gotcha day Taffy x

Happy Gotcha Day Taffy. Love the last photo Wiebke.

What a really great story. After a horrendous start in life Taffy must have thought she was in paradise when you took her home. No wonder she looks so contented in the last photo. By the way I think your tribe are amazing!

Well done Taffy, five years in a wonderful forever home, Caron says hi.
