Eddie & Elvis
Adult Guinea Pig
Today marks one year (well almost- I bought them home on the 29th
) since I adopted Eddie and Elvis, my first ever piggies!
I love them to bits and I'm so so glad I adopted then when I did. I was planning to adopt them in April but I went to the rescue (Neville's Nest) beforehand to pick up a cage and some other items and ended up coming home with them that day. If I hadn't got them that day I wouldn't have got them at all due to lockdown. Clearly it was meant to be!
Elvis developed an abscess only a month and a half after they came home. This resulted in 6 weeks or so of antibiotics then surgery! Thankfully he made a full recovery and hasn't had problems since.
Then more recently Eddie developed a nasty tooth spur. This caused him to stop eating and unfortunately to go into gut stasis. After staying over at the vets for three nights Eddie was able to come back home where with the help of meds he perked up surprisingly quickly. He's now back to his happy little self again.
It's been a rollercoaster and I got more than I bargained for but I wouldn't change my two for the world
Tonight for their dinner they're having their favourite veg to celebrate- broccoli, chicory, coriander, lettuce and cucumber.
