So 8 weeks ago I posted about my babies turning 1 but I couldn't let this day go by without a mention. A year ago 2 little furballs entered my life and changed it forever. Some of you will remember my story that after several failed attempts at IVF we realised that children would not be coming our way and my world fell dark. Getting out of bed was hard, I didn't think I would ever be happy and knew it would be a long time before I could smile again.
I then decided that I needed something to love, decided on guinea pigs and bought Toby & Barney. Little did I realise how they would transform our lives.
They were intended to be outdoor piggies but by last October they had not only moved into but taken over our lounge, free-ranging whenever they want. I have never laughed as much, or rolled my eyes shaking my head as much as I have done in the last 12 months. They are such little quirky characters over-flowing with personality. They always make their needs known (hungry, hungry, hungry...) Last night I caught them sitting at the kitchen door impatiently chattering their teeth, neither of us were in the kitchen but they decided it was time for their dinner (it was 18:30, dinner time is 19:00). I took the hint and they got fed early!
This morning I went to handfeed their breakfast as normal. I kneel at the bottom of the stair to do this. As I lowered myself down, Barney decided he was far too hungry to wait for me and launched himself onto my knee - I would have been level with the 3rd step at this point. I couldn't believe how far he could jump. He has never done this before so I decided he was coming to give me a 'Happy Gotcha Day' cuddle (nothing to do with the baby corn in the bowl).
So my little men - I love you to the moon and back, I no longer need children because you are my babies and I cant imagine a world without you.
