Can a guinea pig live happy alone in a hutch with a separation from another guinea pig? I have a boar and a sow living together with a wire fence like separation. They can see and talk and smell each other but they can't get to each other (fear of mating).

I have no experience of this but could he be frustrated living next to her? Is it possible to neuter him?

That is an interesting question. They say having piggies live side by side is better than them being singletons, but this is usually said in the context of same sex pigs who don't get along. Many members have their post-neuter boar live side by side with the potential wifeys for the 6 weeks it takes them to be safe, so it is possible. Is your boy doing everything he can to try & get to the girl or is he fairly laid back with the situation as is? I imagine he is at least frantic when she is in season, but that doesn't last forever.
