It's ok to get your heart broken, to make mistakes and to learn from them...
It's ok to be selfless, to live generously, to love honestly...
It's ok to approach each day with an open mind, a loving heart, and a pocketful of smiles for every person you meet.
It's ok to spend an entire day crying because the thought of doing anything else is physically crushing and emotionally exhausting.
It's ok to miss someone so much that it literally hurts you to your core.
It's ok, it's honest, it's real, and it's life.
Life is good, even when it's filled with challenges, heartache, road blocks and moments that have you questioning why to even get out of the bed in the morning...
It is still your life, and this year, even though I am sure that each and every one of you, myself included, has something that tears at your heart and makes it hard to breathe at times, the reality is, that each and every one of us, also has things that make us feel beyond blessed & if we're still breathing, that-in and of itself- is also a gift.
Be thankful for the blessings that we all have, be they big or small. Hold dear the memories of those who have passed before us, but whose memories we keep alive & well with every thought of their smile, every remembrance of their laughter, the strong sound of their voice calling your name as clear as if they were still right in front of you, arms open, waiting for that hug.
That hug will come, but in the meantime, honor their memory by trying to remember why life is wonderful, life is hard. Hold close those who still hold your heart in theirs, and remember them with love as you not forget to honor those you are still blessed with in the here and now.
Here's to a thanksgiving full of smiles, laughter, stories, memories, and love. May we all find the things to truly remind us what being thankful, really means...
