While having cuddles with Pixel this evening, I've found a hard lump about the size of half a grape between her nipple and back leg that makes her squirm and bite when I touch it. It seems to move easily under her skin. Her hair is all still there but I think she's been licking it as it's a bit clumpy.

Of course I will be taking her to the vet, but what is the most likely situation please?

It's probably either an abscess or a sebaceous cyst, but you do need a vet visit to determine which & to rule out anything more sinister.

To be honest, it can be a number of things; lumps really need a vet to diagnose them.

Poor girly :( I hope it hasn't been there long!

Poor Pixel. Great she has such an attentive mum. Please don't torment yourself Rachel. It could be one of a number of things - so best for the vet to check it out and diagnose it. Hugs xx

I've had lumps come up literally overnight on one of mine, so don't worry, the vet will soon sort it out for you :)

Same here! One of my RB piggies Cookie developed a huge one on her back that came up overnight and remained until she died several years later as an old lady - that was a sebaceous cyst. Nutmeg ( another RB piggy) had one on her hip that was a fibroma and appeared from nowhere - benign again. It's hard not to worry but try not to torment yourself.

Definitely worth a vet check. Sundae has a mobile lump under the skin on one shoulder that the vet has said is a sebaceous cyst and benign and at her age and the fact that it doesn't bother her I don't want to remove it. But it's always worth a checkup!

My little (big) lump-monster has an appointment with my favourite vet at 5:45 tomorrow evening.

My Fatty Lump has a fatty lump, but there were also some cells in the samples taken that weren't just fat, so they've been sent to the lab for a full diagnosis. The good news, apparently, is that it isn't attached to anything internally and moves around with the skin, so very unlikely to be anything horrible. The not-fat cells could be a bit of infection or the start of an abcess, but we'll find out more with the lab results.

That's always a relief to hear. Peter gets called our fat lump... even more so after the appearance of his fatty lumps :))

The vet called back this evening and has said that basically, it's a fatty lump with some traces of red and white blood cells present, although that may have been from the test itself. She said that she is happy that it's nothing nasty, but if anything changes in the size or if it starts upsetting Pixel then we may have to consider surgery. Overall though, nothing needed :) Phew!

Phew indeed. So good to hear :yahoo:
