Hard lump

Hi everyone, I‘ve noticed a lump under Smudges left front leg. I’ve felt it and it’s hard but doesn’t seem to be causing her any pain. I’m quite worried about it, is this likely to be something serious?

Do have her vet checked. Piggies can get different kind of lumps so without a hands on check it is not possible to know what it is

- please have the lump seen by a vet during regular opening hours unless is it suddenly growing very quickly. Lumps cover a very wide area and need a hands-on check to determine. Is the lump sitting loosely in the skin or is it deeper and firmly attached to the body?

I would still recommend to have it vet checked as it could be an abscess, but you are more likely you are dealing with a harmless sebaceous cyst or lipoma (fatty lump) that will only need monitoring for the time being unless it grows and impedes movement or blows up. Please keep in mind that we can only guess but not diagnose.

But I would take a deep breath!

Thank you so much. I think I’m going to keep an eye on it till Monday and see if it gets any bigger and then try and get her an appointment. I really hope it is nothing too serious, she’s a fairly young guinea pig (2 years and a month).
