Good morning! Our guinea pig, Zoot, was diagnosed with ringworm from the vet due to his patchy, bald, scaly spots. We use the ointment she gave us once daily but after 3 days of using it, I noticed a hard, red bump on his cheek. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? I tried to take pictures as best I could!

Welcome to the forum; and I'm sorry to hear about the ringworm.

It would be best to return to the vet to have the lump checked as a hands on check is needed.

I have added our guide below which details how to properly deal with ringworm - including the best treatment (any creaming of the ringworm patches is the least effective method as spores are shed from a much wider area so can perpetuate the infection) and the thorough disinfection which is needed (spores can live in the environment for up to two years so thoroughly disinfecting everything is needed to stop it from returning).

Ringworm: Hygiene, Care And Pictures

Hi and welcome

Very sorry about the ringworm. Please take the time to read our step-by-step ringworm guide. The problem with ringworm is its extremely high contagiousness and the need to for comprehensive hygiene measure. We have found pretty much all possible angles on which ringworm can be transmitted the hard way but also how you can cut them off. That is why the guide works when you follow it. It is a pain but if you it right, it is a pain only once and not an ongoing long lasting saga.

Unfortunately, we cannot comment on lumps, which need a hands-on examination.

Welcome to the forum.
Sorry that you’re dealing with ringworm.
Hope everything clears quickly
