My boys had been on burgess Excel for ages so I gave them a little change to supreme science selective, but i run out on Thursday night(didn't even realise I needed gpig food until it was gone *doh*) so my partner went to morrisons to see if they did any, and he came back with Harringtons optimum. The nuggets are tiny! Both boys have eaten half a bowl so will have to wait and see if they do well on it. If so I may consider keeping them on it as its a lot cheaper than science select and Excel. Just a bit concerned that it says complementary food on the back not complete food.
Harringtons are just fine :-) most foods are complementary I dont think any guinea pig food should be stated as complete as they dont contain the hay the animal needs so its not a complete diet if that makes sense
I've moved mine over to this recently and they seem to be doing really well on it and enjoying it. The pellets are mixed in with Science Selective at the minute but I will use just Harringtons when this batch has gone.
Cost was my reason for swapping to this brand - with 6 piggles even the big bags of Science Selective were working out too expensive. Vetuk sell the big bags online for a good price. I did a lot of reading up on it (including on here) and opinions seemed to be positive so I went for it.
I am using Harringtons as well; I switch and mix between different brands, so my piggies never get bored and fed up and happily eat another brand if one is for whatever reason out of stock.
My girls have always been fed on Harringtons even from birth. I've trailed them on Science Selective and Burgess but they just don't seem so keen on them.
I've tried mine on lot's of different dried foods but they wouldn't eat anything but Gerty. Recently I was given a bag of Harrington's by a woman on Freecycle who had bought it for her piggies but they wouldn't eat it. Now Minnie & Mitch will eat it but the other 3 will just have a little if any at all. I recurrently changed over to Wagg which is similar to Gerty and all of them eat more of it than the Gerty I used to get. Piggies can be picky & what's right for one will not suit another. Good thing it's only about 5% of their diet.
I brought a bag of Harrington's the other week when I ran out until it was all gone of Leo's nuggets and he won't eat them as they are to small. lol. I even mixed them in with his big nuggets but he just eats all the big ones and leaves the little pellets.
Where as Zee quite likes them, lol. But I think it is good for them and nice to mix things up a little even if it's for a short while.
Thanks everyone, they seem to like it I only have 2 piggies so a small bag is fine and lasts normally a little while. Also thanks for clearing up the complete /complementary thing I feel better now with all this hot weather mine have been eating less hay and more veggies anyway. (By choice) they always have access to unlimited hay. But they like to nibble on there nuggets throughout the day

She's bought them nuggets but they just turn there nose up and chew the bars for some food lol
